Quite simply put: if you arm and hold the G-3 Smoke grenade and hold it in your hand instead of throwing it like you would a normal grenade, it will, naturally, explode. But unlike a frag grenade, it will do no damage, stun, or knockback to your Helldiver. Instead, it will immediately hide you from all enemy line of sight, providing you with a brief moment of relief. Pretty nifty, huh?
To make the best use of this trick, first make sure you have the G-3 Smoke grenade equipped as your throwable weapon, which you can do through the Armory menu while on your ship.
