Hogwarts Legacy – Which house to choose & how to pick

There's nothing hidden in your head the Sorting Hat can't see.

The house that you are sorted into colors your entire Hogwarts experience in shades of red, yellow, green, or blue. Houses in the Harry Potter series illustrate different character traits between students, and the experience is essentially the same for Hogwarts Legacy. If you don't want to leave the sorting up to pure chance, however, here's how you can pick the Hogwarts house that's right for you.

What is the best house in Hogwarts Legacy?

If you love the wizarding world as I do, you want to pick the house in Hogwarts Legacy that reflects your core personality. It's a very personal choice, but worry not, as you can pick a new house on a different playthrough and relive the experience again! The four houses you can choose from are:

  • Ravenclaw: known for intelligence.
  • Hufflepuff: known for empathy.
  • Slytherin: known for ambition.
  • Gryffindor: known for bravery.

While the house you choose will not significantly impact the storyline of Hogwarts Legacy, it will have a strong influence on your day to day gameplay. Aside from the Room of Requirement, your house's common room is your character's daily respite from the greater wizarding world.

Can any house learn Dark Spells in Hogwarts Legacy?

Anyone can learn Dark Spells in Hogwarts Legacy, especially if they've ordered the Dark Arts Pack. This means that, while Hufflepuff historically produces the least amount of dark wizards, you can prove the exception to the rule as an angry badger who flings unforgivable curses on your enemies.

How to choose a house in Hogwarts Legacy

In Hogwarts Legacy, you'll put on the Sorting Hat after enrolling at Hogwarts. This hat will announce the house you belong to for the rest of the game. You'll be able to pick which house you would like to join and you will be sorted.

Should you prefer, however, you can transfer your house and wand data from the Wizarding World website into Hogwarts Legacy. To do this, go to the Wizarding World website and navigate the Hogwarts Sorting tab. You'll want to create an account or log in from there. Once you've signed into your account, complete the house and wand quizzes. If you would like, you can also complete the Patronus quiz, though that result will not be transferred.

Once you know your house, go to Warner Bros and create an account if you don't already have one. You'll then go to the connection page on Hogwarts Legacy to link the two accounts. Follow the onscreen prompts, and you'll be all set to play as your assigned house. Linking accounts will also give you a reward in the form of a Beaked Skull Mask and a House Fan-atic School Robe.
