Repairing the hotel lobby in Hotel Galactic.

Fully funded simulator Hotel Galactic sees you trying to keep hotel guests happy

*Grabby hands*

With a Kickstarter that ends on July 30, 2024, Hotel Galactic is a fully funded hotel management simulator with some amazing cozy vibes. Fans of Studio Ghibli may recognize the company's influences in the game, as the developers are avid fans of the films.

In a recent live Q&A with Kaila, the creator of the community Facebook group, Cozy Gamers, the founding members of the studio behind Hotel Galactic revealed more about the game's creation, including some features that players can expect to see once Hotel Galactic is released.

As well as a general overview of the game, where Ancient Forge founders, Max and Dushan, talked about the efforts that have gone into the game to make it enjoyable for a range of players, the duo answered a question from someone on the YouTube live chat about interactions with the hotel guests.

The individual had, perhaps jokingly, asked if it would be possible to "pet" the hotel guests (an understandable question, they all look adorable). Kaila expanded on the question further - asking Max and Dushan if tapping on hotel guests would garner any sort of reaction.

Quite wonderfully, it will. Dushan responded, letting the viewers know that if they click on any of the hotel guests, they will "stand in place and look at the camera, waiting for your decision [on] what to do with them." Dushan went on to explain that you can let them cut in line if they're impatient or offer them a free meal if they have issues.

This touched on another question from the livestream, which asked if the guests had feelings. Dushan confirmed that they have feelings, characteristics, and traits. Max chimed in to let us know that they'd also have "pet peeves" for us to deal with.

I also had the chance to ask a question during this live Q&A, and I wasn't going to miss my opportunity to get more information. When I asked about the possibility of a demo being released in the future, Dushan said that they plan on having a demo of the game at the Tokyo Game Show (September 26-30, 2024), and a "public demo" on Steam for "some of the Steam Next Fest [events] happening."

The next Steam Next Fest runs from February 24 – March 3, 2025. There's also a second one running in 2025 between June 9 – 16. Dushan and Max made it clear that this was only a possibility, though, and there isn't a set date for a public demo yet.

Max then took over and said that they'll have "different opportunities for people to get their hands on the game", but didn't mention anything other than Kickstarter. So, unfortunately, it's likely that backers who didn't choose the playtest options, and non-backers, won't see much from the game until next year.

Hotel Galactic is due to drop in Q4 2026, with an Early Access release planned for Q2 2025.

To stay updated, I highly recommend joining the dev's Discord Group. If that link breaks, you can find an invite link on the Steam Store page for Hotel Galactic. You can also watch the full live Q&A on YouTube.
