Being a building and crafting game, the major stars of this new update are various tools, gadgets, and stations themed around Goblin engineering (if we can call it that). Many of those ingenious inventions require Void Crystal Shards, and in this guide, I'll help you find them.
Where to Find Void Crystal Shards in Hytale
You can find Void Crystal Shards in the Guttering Hollows, a brand-new fragment of Orbis introduced in Chapter I: Out of the Breach. This mysterious region is primarily inhabited by Goblins, although plenty of other critters and creatures of the Void call it home as well. To reach the Guttering Hollows, you'll need to wait for a Goblin Breach event to occur in the main world. Once that happens, follow these steps to get there.
Goblin Breaches are new events that can occur once you've discovered the Goblin Lab. You'll know one is happening when a massive "BREACH IN PROGRESS" message pops up on your screen. When it does, scan the horizon for a bright yellow beam of electrical energy stretching from the ground into the sky. That's your destination.
Once you reach the beam, you'll find a portal guarded by a couple of Goblins. Feel free to deal with them if you're in the mood for a fight, but you can also simply ignore them and jump straight into the portal. On the other side, you'll enter a fragment of Orbis, where the clock is ticking. You'll have only a limited amount of time to explore, gather resources, grab loot, and uncover whatever secrets the area has to offer.
How to Get Void Crystal Shards
Once you're inside the Guttering Hollows, there are several ways in which you can obtain Void Crystal Shards. They drop as loot from the following mobs:
- Revenant Guardian
- Void Crystal
- Void Fiend
Each one is guaranteed to drop at least 1 Void Crystal Shard, while Void Crystals can reward you with up to 10 Shards in a single drop! These spawn during Void Surge events in the Guttering Hollows, so make sure to keep your eyes peeled whenever one starts. You definitely don't want to miss out on those extra Shards!

Besides farming these mobs, you can also get lucky and find Void Crystal Shards inside Tier 3 to 5 Chests scattered throughout the Guttering Hollows. One of the best places to look is inside those small houses surrounded by thorny bushes. You'll recognize them by the ladders leading down into cellars packed with skeletons. Head downstairs, and you'll usually find a couple of Chests waiting for you, each with a chance to contain Void Crystal Shards. Just be ready to deal with the skeletons first!
