Can You Tame Animals in Hytale?

The developers of Hytale have stated that taming will be a feature added to the game at a later stage, but right now, at the start of Early Access, traditional taming is not possible. However, you will be able to capture and manipulate animals in a different way by using two currently available items, which can yield similar results to taming an animal. Here's how you can do it.

Hytale Feed Bag

The first way to lure animals is by using the Feed Bag. This is an item that you can craft from the Farmer's Workbench, one of the several crafting structures you can create early on. Here's a whole process on how to get the Feed Bag, step-by-step.

  • From the Pocket Crafting menu, craft a basic Workbench (4x Any Tree Trunk, 3x Any Stone).
  • Deploy the Workbench from your menu and interact with it
  • From the Workbench's menu, open the Crafting tab.
  • Craft the Farmer’s Workbench (6x any Tree Trunk, 20x Plant Fiber).
  • Deploy the Farmer’s Workbench and interact with it.
  • In the Farming tab, craft the Feed Bag (10x Wheat, 5x any vegetable, 5x any fruit, 10x Essence of Life).
  • Place the Feed Bag in a Quick Slot and deploy it near your base.

And that's it. Now you wait. Keep in mind that this will not necessarily tame an animal. Rather, it will lure them near your base, where you can eliminate them for resources.

Hytale Capture Crate

Another way to capture animals in Hytale is by using the Capture Crate. It can be crafted at the Farmer’s Workbench under the Farming menu and requires 4x any Wood and 50x Essence of Life. Once crafted, equip it in a quick slot and use it on small animals to capture them and transport them back to your base. Keep in mind that this method captures animals; it does not tame them.

Are There Mounts in Hytale?

Yes, there will be - the developers have confirmed that you will be able to ride at least three different animals: Horses, Camels, and Tetrabird. However, at the moment, this is not yet possible, at this stage of early access. This can be confirmed by the developers in their offical blog post. So, yes, you will be able to tame animals in Hytale, but that feature is still not implemented.
