Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel is a fun roguelike bullet hell game that incorporates gameplay elements from popular titles like Death Must Die and Vampire Survivor. There are various items, monsters, and threats in the game that appear on their fixed spawn time, all of which have been shared in this guide.
Jotunnslayer Hordes of Hel - Item and Monster Spawn Times
The following list shows the spawn time when certain fixed elements in Jotunnslayer appear, including Treasure Chest, Cannon, Elites, etc. Keep in mind this list shows the timings for the Insane Difficulty where the raid time is 20 minutes. Regardless, you will find similar timings with some variation in lower-difficulty settings as well.
Items and Monsters | Spawn Time in minutes of the match counter |
---|---|
Treasure Chest | 18:00, 15:00, 11:10, 8:00, 5:20, 3:00 |
Healing Pool | 13:00, 7:00, 2:00 |
Fortify Pool | 4:00 in Niflheim and 5:30 on Muspelheim |
Cannon | Every 2 minutes from 18:55 until 4:00 (in Muspelheim only) |
Golden Imp | 17:30, 15:00, 12:10, 6:00, 4:00, 3:12, 1:40, 1:15 |
Elite Monster | 12:20, 7:15, 5:00, 4:00, 3:00, 2:20, 1:20 |
As you can see, some elements' spawn timing varies depending on the map you're playing on. Furthermore, the Treasure Chest dropped by Elite Monsters in Niflheim may include special, permanent upgrades. However, chests you get by killing them in Muspelheim give you common temporary upgrades.
You must keep your eyes on the minimap for Treasure Chests (first image above) as they can grant you powerful temporary abilities like healing, attack boost, speed boost, magnet, and much more. More rare spawns are Health Fountains that can max out your HP when used. Look for the cross symbol on the map to identify one (second image).
Cannons appear quite often (every two minutes in higher difficulty) and constantly bombard your position until you destroy them. Track their location on the map by following the red crosshair icon and kill them, which is quite an easy task as they don't have much health.
The Golden Imp is a gargoyle that flies away when you attack it. It doesn't retaliate but you will have to chase it down to kill it and reap the rewards, i.e., several gold coins. Identify them with the winged gold icon on the map. Interestingly, you can kill 50 of these beasts to unlock the Spoils of the West trophy.
Elite Monsters have a higher health bar than other smaller enemies but have the capability of dealing more damage than an entire horde. Their HP is shown with a red bar as you can see in the images above. Make sure to dodge their attacks by staying out of the marked fire zone and you should be able to take them out easily.
