How to defeat Shrine Guardian in Kena: Bridge of Spirits – Shrine Guardian boss guide

Kena: Bridge of Spirits has several tense and challenging boss battles, like the Shrine Guardian. This early game encounter will put Kena’s skill to the test, but with the right tips and tricks, any player can take this enemy on with ease.

Follow the steps we’ve shared below to take out the Shrine Guardian and clear Kena’s path to the game’s next area:

• The Shrine Guardian is a bulky boss, one with very strong attacks. Be wary of his physical strikes, as too many of these may be lethal to Kena.
  • He often uses sweeping motions, so dodge away from him, not to the sides.
• When the fight starts, the Shrine Guardian will spawn several minions to aid him. Target them first for some extra Rot energy.
  • Minions will occasionally spawn, so be prepared to take them out as they appear.
• He’ll occasionally leap across the map to attack Kena from a distance, so be prepared to run, dodge, or shield if he gets airborne.
• The Shrine Guardian also has a powerful shockwave attack.
  • It creates giant flowers that erupt from the ground and send out a pulse after growing. Stay away from these plants and leap into the air if they’re close.
    • Use a Rot action on the Shrine Guardian’s back during the shockwave attack to pop the flower there and deal a large amount of damage.
• Keep an eye on the golden crystals on the Shrine Guardian. These crystals are the boss's weak point, and shattering them with a well-timed shot deals with substantial damage and simultaneously stuns the boss.
• Use Rot attacks when not targeting the crystals to stun the boss, as regular attacks won’t phase him.
• Make sure to use flowers in the area to heal when Kena’s health gets low. Keep in mind using flowers does cost a Rot action, so saving one charge for emergencies isn’t a bad idea.
