While much of the gameplay focuses on combat in the turn-based strategy RPG King Arthur: Legion IX, there is more to think about. After each mission, you’ll have to make moral decisions that will affect more than just the moment. So should you take the Demonic or Humanity path in King Arthur: Legion IX?
Should you choose Demonic or Humanity Morality in King Arthur Legion IX?
The most important thing to note is that there isn’t a right or wrong answer when it comes to making moral decisions in King Arthur: Legion IX. This is a fantasy game drawing on several genres to create a unique mix, so if you purely want to roleplay things the way you see them, there’s no harm in that.
However, if you want to make decisions based on how they affect your characters and the battles going forward, you need to consider that your morality choices will affect how other heroes think about you (individual loyalty bonuses) and also the Morality Chart (squad bonuses) that can become available to you as you focus down one of the paths.
Hero loyalty in King Arthur: Legion IX
Different heroes automatically fall on the side of either the Demonic or Humanity side and how you (playing as Gaius) make your decisions can affect their loyalty.
- Plutonius (Demonic): Each time you go for a Demonic morality choice he will gain +1 Loyalty.
- Albina (Humanity): When you make a Humanity morality choice she gets +1 Loyalty.
Increased Loyalty will add weapon damage and, if it reaches 15, an extra AP. This can make a huge difference so if you favor one of these heroes, that can aid your decision.
The Morality Chart in King Arthur: Legion IX
Each time you are in Nova Roma, you will need to make a decision relating to the running of the city. These decisions will have two to three choices, often allowing you to take a Demonic or Humanity leaning response. Each time you make a choice it will move the morality chart one space, and for each two spaces you move in one direction you’ll open up a new bonus.
Demonic
- 2 points: Plunder Decree (doubles the Gold found on your next mission)
- 4 points: Pledge to Orcus (heroes gain 5 percent Vitality each time a unit is killed)
- 6 points: Tax Collection (unlocks a War Council upgrade that adds 25 percent to Gold gained in missions)
- 8 points: Concession Decree (merchants give a 20 percent discount but the arrival of new stock is delayed 2 turns)
- 10 points: Undying Legion (heroes stay alive on 1 Vitality the first time they should die. Any extra damage is delayed until the next turn)
Humanity
- 2 points: Reclaim Decree (doubles the Resources found on your next mission)
- 4 points: Pledge to Vista (all heroes gain 10 percent Vitality after each battle)
- 6 points: Fidelity (unlocks a War Council upgrade that adds +1 Loyalty to all heroes)
- 8 points: Restock Goods Decree (the merchant’s stock is immediately restocked)
- 10 points: Vesta’s Touch (you can now over-heal, with 50 percent of excess healing turning into temporary Vitality)
Other Morality options
If you’re not worried about roleplaying and are not won over by the bonuses offered by the gods, there is often a third choice. This usually allows you to give a specific bonus to one of your heroes (extra loyalty, or even a skill point). These can be excellent choices, especially if you’re not won over by the 10-point morality Chart bonuses.
In the end, there is little to choose between the two paths in terms of the quality of bonuses. However, I like the Pledge to Vista bonus and also prefer Albina over Plutonius, so I will nearly always make Humanity choices to bolster her Loyalty.
