How to beat Forgo Dedede in Kirby and the Forgotten Land

Something's definitely off about King Dedede...

King Dedede has become Forgo Dedede and returns as the sixth main boss in Kirby and the Forgotten Land. He guards the game's sixth territory, Redgar Forbidden Lands, and waits for you in a fighting ring deep somewhere in this industrial volcano complex. Beating him is the only thing you have to do to clear the stage, in the King's Presence, but Forgo Dedede is only the beginning.

When you land, you'll see a Maxim Tomato, and you can choose any one of the evolved versions of Sword, Tornado, Ranger, or Ice before you face off against the boss. If you could beat Sillydillo last time, then avoiding the coming boss attacks should be more of the same dodging tactics you've used thus far. But keep in mind that once you deplete the life bar, Forgo Dedede's phase two will begin, and the boss's life bar will refill for the first time in the game.

Bring a Maxim Tomato to go from Waddle Dee Town if you want! You can enter this stage with any Copy Ability, but we went with Space Ranger. The huge black orb it can shoot after a good charge will inflict massive damage while slowing down the boss—sometimes long enough for you to charge your weapon again and release another shot! If you can pull this off, you may be able to deplete as much as a third of Dedede's life bar.

Once the showdown begins, Forgo Dedede will bring down his two hammers and send fireballs your way before he charges at you with a tornado attack. He'll be dizzy after this attack, so now's your chance to get in a charged shot or as much damage as you can with your chosen ability—or shoot the stars from a range to deal some good damage as normal Kirby.

Use charged attacks to deplete Forgo Dedede's life bar

Jump and hover over the shockwaves that reverberate across the ground when he goes into the air and slams down multiples times. Just try to maintain distance between you and this boss, and you should be okay. Phase two of this fight begins as Forgo Dedede's life bar refills, and he dons a pig mask. Now, he'll run around on all fours, charging at you.

He'll still be a little slow, and you can definitely get in some charged attacks when he falls on his face after he dashes at you. Dedede will continue to slam into the ground and send fireballs at you and even a few Beast-Pack minions you can easily dispatch.

The optional missions of this stage are:

  • Don't Get Hit By Forgo Dedede's Fire Attack
  • Clear By Using A Second-Level Evolved Ability
  • Clear Within two minutes
  • Clear Without Taking Any Damage

Beating Forgo Dedede and accomplishing the other missions may require practice and multiple attempts and upgrading your Copy Abilities past their third form, which you can do after you see the credits roll. Try to perfect your movements, and consider using some of the Treasure Road stages to master your skills with each Copy Ability. Now, congratulations on defeating the sixth main boss of Kirby and the Forgotten Land!
