Best Ranked Masteries in Last Epoch Season 3
S Tier: Best Meta Masteries in Beneath Ancient Skies

The S-tier masteries have the most powerful builds in Last Epoch Season 3, making them the best choices for speed farming, arena pushing, and boss encounters. These masteries have excellent endgame potential and are recommended for both new and experienced players.
Beastmaster
Beastmaster is the absolute best mastery in Season 3 as it's easy to play with, has excellent survivability, and can eliminate enemies efficiently. The enhanced minion scaling makes Beastmaster a superb choice, no matter if you're new to the game or a veteran.
- Best Beastmaster Builds: As the minion reworks have made Beastmaster incredibly powerful, both Bear Beastmaster and Storm Crow Beastmaster builds now dominate the meta.
Void Knight
Void Knight is a Sentinel mastery melee-focused class that deals out large circular swings that plow through enemies, leaving a trail of Void behind them, which deals damage-over-time. Despite receiving nerfs in Season 3, Void Knight maintains its position as one of the strongest masteries.
- Best Void Knight Builds: The Erasing Strike and Warpath builds remain exceptionally powerful for high corruption content, combining survivability with massive damage output through void mechanics.
Falconer
Falconer combines minion gameplay with large explosives, creating a fun and engaging combination. Your Falcon bird companion boasts a wide breadth of attacks, of which the Dive Bomb is one of the standouts for sure. The core secret to a strong Falconer build is buffing your Falcon's attacks and reducing all cooldowns as much as possible. Be aware that you will still be exposed to damage as this class, so be sure to spec in movement speed abilities such as Swift to stay quick on your feet.
- Best Falconer Builds: The Ballista and Umbral Blades builds have kept Falconer in S-tier despite other builds being nerfed. This versatile mastery combines ranged combat with minion gameplay, excelling in both solo and group content.
A Tier: Strong All-Around Masteries

A-tier masteries in our Last Epoch class tier list offer excellent build variety and high versatility. While they may occasionally match S-tier performance in specific areas, they require more investment or have minor limitations that prevent them from reaching the top tier.
Paladin
The Paladin is a strong Sentinel class mastery, making it a well-rounded choice if you want to take on a lot of aggro on the battlefield while remaining alive and kicking. Its passive abilities, such as Faithful, will keep you healed up and going strong as the battle rages on. And Paladin builds that make use of the Hammer Throw skill will enjoy a huge spiral of hammers covering the entire screen, dealing excellent damage to foes.
- Best Paladin Builds: Judgment Paladin, Hammer Throw Paladin, and Smite Paladin
Runemaster
Runemaster is an interesting class mastery that has a unique casting system. Here you earn an elemental Rune with each spell you cast, in turn using said Runes to cast one of 40 different Runic Invocations – ranging from huge meteor showers and powerful defensive barriers. We recommend checking this class out if you're looking for something fresh and don't mind a little resource management in exchange for casting some pretty cool spells.
- Best Runemaster Builds: Hydrahedron Runemaster, Glacier-Shatter Strike Runemaster

Lich
Lich is a transformation-based caster class that makes use of the power of death itself. Its playstyle is focused on its signature Reaper Form skill, which causes you to take damage the longer you stay in this form. The Lich is great because it has multiple scaling vectors, including health, intelligence, and mana, but if you don't manage your buffs properly, you'll find yourself dying a lot as this class.
- Best Lich Builds: Death Seal Lich, Stygian Coal Lich, Reaper Form Lich
Necromancer
The Necromancer, the Acolyte mastery class, is very much in the same family as the Warlock and the Lich. Almost all Necromancer builds rely on minions to do your dirty work for you. Necro has benefited from the minion system overhaul, making undead armies even more powerful with improved AI and damage scaling.
- Best Necromancer Builds: Abomination Necromancer, Skeleton Mage Necromancer, Wraith Necromancer
B Tier Masteries: Solid Choices with Limitations

B-tier Last Epoch class masteries offer competent performance but are often outperformed by higher-tier options. These masteries have good builds but may require more investment and usually have specific weaknesses that limit their effectiveness.
Bladedancer
Bladedancer is a good choice if you like to play fast. The speed comes at a cost, as you can die easily if you're not careful. Because of this, consider investing in fast movement abilities such as Swift to stay out of trouble.
- Best Bladedancer Builds: Lethal Mirage Bladedancer, Dancing Strikes Bladedancer, Umbral Blades Bladedancer
Warlock
Warlock's biggest strength, like in most traditional RPGs, is its potential to deal damage over time (DoT) to enemies. This means you can spend more time playing defensively while your DoTs do the work. To make the best of your Warlock build’s power, hone in on one type of damage and buff it as much as you can. That said, Warlock requires strategic positioning and timing to maximize its potential.
- Best Warlock Builds: Tormenting Spirits Warlock, Witchfire Warlock, Chaos Bolt Warlock

Shaman
Shaman has strong AoE skills but has limited single-target damage. Seeing as all of the Shaman's abilities are offensive spells, his passive tree provides huge boosts to Attunement, spell damage, elemental damage, and mana. You can also create synergy between the Shaman and his storm totem, which he can also summon, providing helpful buffs to you and your teammates. If you're looking for a versatile class, you'll enjoy the Shaman's ability to get up close with his hybrid melee and elemental attacks or engage in effective ranged combat.
- Best Shaman Builds: Totem Shaman, Tornado Shaman, Lightning Blast Shaman
Sorcerer
Sorcerer uses elemental abilities to deal massive AoE damage, but has mobility limitations. Arcane Ascendance can enhance all spell damage, though this comes at the expense of mobility. You'll want to keep a safe distance from enemies, as Sorcerer is not very good at taking damage.
- Best Sorcerer Builds: Meteor Sorcerer, Disintegrate Sorcerer, Lightning Blast Sorcerer
Spellblade
Spellblade is a strong melee class that also uses elemental buffs. You'll have lots of fun with this class, but be aware that its effectiveness is very dependent on the quality of your equipment.
- Best Spellblade Builds: Shatter Strike Spellblade, Mana Strike Spellblade, Elemental Nova Spellblade
Marksman
Marksman is a master of the bow, excelling in both ranged, single-target attacks. This mastery dishes out a high level of damage thanks to a rapid barrage of arrows, allowing you to snipe your foes from a distance. The Marksman is certainly not a tanky class; on the contrary, this is a glass cannon type of class, so make sure you're not too close to enemies.
- Best Marksman Builds: Heartseeker Marksman, Multishot Marksman, Puncture Marksman
C-Tier Masteries: Niche Specialists in Last Epoch
C-tier masteries require significant investment or have specific limitations that make them less optimal for most players. While still useful, they underperform if you don't have quality gear and a perfect build.
Druid
Druid uses the power of primal nature, poisonous vines, and healing powers. You can shapeshift into a Werebear, a Spriggan, or a Swarmblade, thus gaining new abilities and buffs. While in his animal form, the Druid uses Rage instead of Mana for his abilities. If you're looking to make quick work of early-game mobs, then invest heavily in the Werebear form. With all the changes in Last Epoch Season 3, Druids struggle a bit in the endgame meta, which is the main reason they ended up in C-tier.
- Best Druid Builds: Werebear Druid, Spriggan Druid, Storm Crow Druid
Forge Guard
Forge Guard is a minion-focused mastery that specializes in fire damage, but can also whip out floating shields, forged weapons, and even a giant set of animated armor. This class excels in particular if you go for a Mastery Armor build; pairing it with the Forge Guard's powerful Shield Throw and stacking shield throw ricochets will produce some impressive results. The main reason for ranking this low is that other classes simply offer more.
- Forge Guard Builds: Shield Rush Forge Guard, Forged Weapon Forge Guard, Javelin Forge Guard
