Lost Lands 2 Walkthrough - The Four Horsemen full guide and puzzles

This guide walks you through the first part of the adventure up until you meet Folnur after discovering the compass. You’ll find links to my other walkthroughs to later stages of the game below the table of contents.

As with all the Lost Lands games, there’s a great map and fast travel system (just click the icon in the bottom right of the screen), so I’ll use area names throughout rather than describing how to get to locations on foot.

The journey begins

After being whisked away in the parking lot, you awaken outside Maaron’s hut. Your first Beyond Object is on the roof (a1) and the Collectible is right next to it. Take the Monk Figurine (a2), the Shovel from the flower close-up (a3), and the Ladder (a4). Use the ladder to get a close-up of the loft (a5), take the Knife Handle, and use it on the blade (a6) to get a Knife and your first Manuscript.

Use the knife on the sack on the cart (next to a2) which spills the grain, attracting the pigeons from the loft. You can now take the Key from the loft (a5), along with a second Monk Figurine, and use the key to enter Maaron’s hut (a7). Once inside, click the glowing orange ball for a cut scene and then talk to Maaron, who will give you a Rune.

Take the Collectible and a third Monk Figurine from the bookshelves (b1), the Beyond Object from the tree (b2), and a fourth Monk Figurine from the chair (b3), then move the straw (b4) to find a Sickle. Take the Manuscript from the chest of drawers (b5), as well as a Candle, then open the top drawer in the same close-up to get a Full Oil Can. Head back outside, use the rune to activate the portal (a8), and head through.

Stronghold of the Five Worlds

The Beyond Object is on a pillar (c1) and the Collectibe is to the right of the doorway (c2). Take the Hammer from the rock (c3) and the Manuscript from the left obelisk (c4), then return to Maaron’s hut. Pull back the rug (b6), use the hammer on the nails in the close-up, remove the plank, and take the Saw.

Go back to the stronghold and use the saw on the tree stump (c5) to get the Water Portal Activation instructions and a fifth Monk Figurine. Return to Maaron’s hut and put the instructions on the table (b7) to see what you need to activate the portal. Return to the stronghold once more and move through the archway (c6) to the lake of life.

After speaking to Aquamarine the mermaid, collect the Beyond Object rock (d1) and the Collectible (d2). Use the sickle on the thorns (d3) to find your sixth Monk Figurine, take the Key from the sand (d4), and then dig the sand with the shovel to find a Music Box Drum.

Next, click the boat (d5) to start a missing objects puzzle, where everything you need is already in the image (the dragon figure is to the right of the boat). Once complete, you’ll receive the Stopcock.

Return to Maaron’s hut and use the stopcock on the chest (b8) to start a rotating animal puzzle. If you’re stuck on this one, follow this sequence:

  • Rx4, M, L, Rx3, M, L, Rx5, M, L, Rx2, M, L, Rx3, M
  • L, Rx4, M, L, Rx5, M, Lx2, M, Lx7, M, L, R, M
  • Rx2, M, Rx3, M, Rx4, M, Rx6, M, R, M, R, M
  • R, M, Rx2, M, Rx7, M, R, M, R

When you’re done you’ll find an Energy Sphere in the box. You can return to the stronghold and place the sphere into the obelisk (c4), but you need another. Go back to the glade and use the key to open the gate (a9), which gives you access to the halfling settlement.

The halfling settlement

You’ll find the Beyond Object on the shelf (e1) and the Collectible on the pumpkins (e2). Also, grab the seventh Monk Figurine (next to e1), the Net (next to e2), the Pitchfork (e3), a Manuscript from the snake box close-up (e4), and the Energy Sphere from the lamp (e5). Use the pitchfork on the haystack (e6) to find the final Monk Figurine. Get a close-up of the music box (e7), turn the handle, then add the music box drum. It won’t work yet though.

Move to the lake and use the net on the water (d6) to get some Duckweed. Head back to Maaron’s hut and put the duckweed in the mortar on the desk (b7), use the pestle on it, then put the mortar onto the oil heater. However, you still need the purple essence.

Return to the stronghold and place the second energy sphere in the second obelisk (c7), raising the steps to the door. Click the door and then add the monk figurines to start an energy chain puzzle. Once complete (see image above), you’ll gain access to the Tower Hall, so head inside.

Take the Collectible (f1) and the Beyond Object (f2), and then use the knife to lift the broken floor tile (f3) to find a Mosaic Fragment. Take the matchbox from the edge of the pool (f4), place the candle in the broken statue (f5), and use the matches to light it. Take the Purple Esence from inside. Get a close-up of the covered mirror (f6), take the Manuscript, and use the knife to cut off the Tassle

Head to the halfling settlement and use the tassel to clean the drum in the music box (e7). Close the case, wind it, and it will open to reveal the Phoenix Feather. Back at Maaron’s hut, put the purple essence into the mortar (b7) and take the Powder of Flying. Return to the tower, place the powder and feather in the pool (f4), and the portal will activate.

The upper corridor

The Collectible is on the left pillar (g1), while the Beyond Object is by the right pillar (g2). Take the Wooden Gear (g3), then move the stones (g4) to find a Key

Return to the halfling settlement and use the key to open the hut (e8), starting a missing objects game. Again, you can’t go wrong, as everything you need is in the image.

Once complete, you’ll get a Stone Chip. While you’re here, add the gear to the well (e9), turn the handle, and take the Plank.

Head back up to the upper corridor and click the top of the steps (g5), and then the tomb, adding the stone chip to the side of it to begin a pair-matching puzzle. It's time-consuming, but you can’t fail or go wrong. Once complete take the Manuscript and Rune from inside the coffin.

Back at the lake, use the plank to get to the dolmen (d7), which will make Maaron appear. After speaking to him, he’ll give you a second Mosaic Fragment. Use the rune to fire up the portal here (d7) and move on to the Forsaken Sea

The Wasteland

After you’ve collected the Beyond Object (h1) and the Collectible (h2), take the Manuscript from the cactus (h3), grab a Whale Rib and Stone Rune (h4), then use the oil can to clean the winch (h5) and lower the boat and take the Gaff from inside it. Collect the Jar of Flies from the shipwreck (h6), take some Planks from the foot of the tree (h7), and add them to the tree (you can’t fasten them yet).

Return to the halfling village and use the jar of flies to capture the snake (e4), receiving a Snake in a Jar.

Now, return to the forsaken sea and click the archway in the distance (h8) to move on to the abandoned halfling settlement.

The Beyond Object is above the door on the right (i1), while the Collectible is just to the left of it (i2). Select the tree (i3) for a close-up and use the snake to scare away the scorpion, which allows you to take a third Mosaic Fragment from the skeleton’s hand. Also, take its Monacle, then use the knife to cut the rope here and take a Stone on a Rope

Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

Examine the well (i4) to find some Nails, add the first stone rune to the pyramid (i5), then use the whale rib in the ship close-up (i6) to move the boulder and start a missing objects game (see the sliding puzzle image above). Once complete, take the Handle you find inside and use it to operate the well and discover some Dynamite in the well bucket. Finally, take a look at the statue (i7) to see that you need a code to operate it.

Getting to the canyon

Go to Maaron’s hut and use the gaff to open the loft hatch (b9), taking the Crystal you find inside. Use the nails and the hammer on the planks (h7) to climb the tree and get the Tongs. Place the dynamite inside the ship (h6).

Move to the stronghold next and use the tongs to take the Tower Figurine from the fire (c8). Add the tower figurine to the shelf in Maaron’s hut (b10, it just gets it out of your inventory), and then head back to the forsaken sea. Use the monocle on the dynamite in the ship close-up (h6) to blow up the ship, making sure to take the Ship’s Wheel that survives the blast.

Click where the ship was to move on to the canyon and grab the Beyond Object (j1) and the Collectible (j2). Use the stone and rope to hook the tree and take the fourth Mosaic Fragment from the nest (j3). Go to the tent (j4), take the Stone Rune, and take the Brush from the doorway (j5).

Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

Return to the forsaken sea, go to the cactus close-up (h3), and use the brush on the rock next to it to reveal a drawing of a soldier. Return to the canyon, add the crystal to the monument (j6), and turn the pieces to match the image (see above). This will open up the huge round doors (j5), so head inside.

The dwarf temple

The Collectible is on the pillar at the back left (k1), while the Beyond Object is on the wall on the left (k2). Take the Gear at the base of the left statue (k3), then add it to the mechanism on the right (k4) to start a cogs and gears puzzle (see the solution below). Once complete, you can attach the chain to the statue’s spear.

Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

Use the ship’s wheel on the mechanism to pull the statue down and then take the Spear. You can now also take the Stone Rune in the small hole underneath the statue, along with a Manuscript (k3). Return to the abandoned halfling settlement, add the remaining stone runes to the pyramid (i5), and it will separate. Look at the column inside to find you need a code to operate it.

Back in the dwarf temple, use the spear to cut the fabric (k5) to find a fifth Mosaic Fragment. Select the far end of the temple (k6), and add all five mosaic fragments to start a puzzle. This one can be annoying, so I’ve printed a solution below (click the symbols in the following order):

  • 1, 2, 4, 6, 7, 4, 2, 5, 7, 4, 1,
  • 3, 6, 4, 1, 2, 4, 7, 5, 2, 4, 1,
  • 3, 6, 7, 4, 1, 3, 6, 7, 4, 1, 3,
  • 6, 7, 4, 1, 6, 4, 7, 5, 2, 1, 4,
  • 2, 5, 7, 4, 6, 7, 4.

Once you’ve slid the pieces into the correct spots, the back wall will slide down. Click it for a close-up, and inside you’ll find a Note With The Symbols. Go to the abandoned halfling settlement, look at the pillar revealed by the pyramid (i5), use the note to see the sequence, take the compass it reveals, and then enjoy the cut scene.
