Lost Lands 8 Walkthrough, Part 3 - Sand Captivity

I’ve broken up my Lost Lands 8 Sand Captivity walkthrough into several parts. This one takes us from when Susan is looking for the ingredients to make the underwater potion to when she puts out the fire in the centaur village. If you're looking for puzzle solutions that happen before or after this, instead head over to my Lost Lands 8 Walkthrough hub to find the relevant information.

Making the underwater potion

Select the lake (a1), pick some Purple Seaweed, and grab a Box With Numbers

Head to the academy greenhouse next and pick a Lemon from the lemon tree (b1).

Finally, return to Maaron’s hut and get the Lava Flower Juice from the plant on the windowsill (c1). Select the clock next (c2) and add the box with numbers. Click the box again to open it and start a Roman numerals puzzle.

Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

You just have to remake the clock’s numbers from the letter pieces and add them in the correct order (see above). Once done, a compartment will open to the left of the clock (c3). Click the items inside until you find the Dragon Vessel.

Select the recipe in your inventory and drag the vessel onto the note. Next, add the purple seaweed. Now add the lemon and cut it with your knife. Add the lava juice and murmuri berry, and you’ll receive the Underwater Potion Ingredients. Return to the lake and add the ingredients to the magic well (a2).

Lowering the island

After the cut scene, head to the library (d1). Check the scroll at the entrance to find the symbol for the Department of Crystals and Artifacts (a gem), move to that section, and examine the scroll there to see that you need shelf 6. Click shelf 6 to read Crystal Unio.

Go out to the courtyard and speak to the janitor (e1), who will give you a Carabiner

Move into the hall and use the carabiner on the chain to fix the winding mechanism (f1), which opens the window and shines a pattern onto the floor (f2). Get a close-up of it and add the emblem to start an odd-one-out puzzle.

There are 10 sections that you need to highlight. See the image above for the solution. Once complete, the floor will open up, giving you access to the ritual hall.

Before entering the hall, return to the fortress and place the crystal on the rocks (g1). Now select the crane (g2) and use your knife to cut the rope in the close-up. The rock will fall, crushing the crystal and allowing you to pick up the Crystal Powder.

Now go to the ritual hall. Grab the Collectible (h1) and the Morphing Object (h2), click the central area (h3), and take the Key (in the bottom right of the close-up). Return to the library and use the key to open the town diorama (d1).

Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

Click it once more to start an item-arranging puzzle. There are 11 pieces to move, after which the town will look like the image above. Take the Signet.

Go to Maaron’s office and use the signet to open the cupboard (i1), and then click the mechanism inside to start an animal tile-moving puzzle. Each animal needs to be in its correct environment. To complete it, press the central X once, the outside arrow once, the left X once, and then the right X once (yes, it’s that simple!). Take the Lollipop and the Box With Balls.

Now select the chart on the wall (i2) and add the box with balls to it to find that one ball is missing. Go to the greenhouse and use the lollipop on the insects on the tree (b2) to get Ants. Back in the office, add the ants to the bird cage (i3), which attracts the bird down from the top of the wardrobe. Click the bird in the cage for a close-up and take the missing Red Ball. Add it to the wall chart (i2) and you can begin a color-matching puzzle (I’ve pictured the correct ball positions below). Once done, note the highlighted symbols.

Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

Select the cupboard (i1) once more and get a close-up of the metal box inside. Turn the dials to match the image you saw on the wall chart (see below) and it will open.

Take the Plate, go back to the ritual hall, and add it to the stone (h4). This reveals a pool in the center of the room (h3). Add the crystal powder to the pool to lower the island.

The Collectible is on the rocks (k1) and the Morphing Object is on the tree (k2). Select the skeleton (k3), read the note, and take the Drawing. Click the hole in the same close-up and grab the Sapphire. Click the fireflies (k4) to find a second Saphire, then click the bushes (k5) and move them to discover a cave entrance and head inside.

Grab the Morphing Object (l1), Collectible (l2), and the Hair Of Centaur (l3). You’ll also find Tobabbo Of Spirits in the treasure pile (l4) and you can add the drawing to the altar (l5). Go back outside and move forward (k6) to the swamp.

Take the Collectible (m1), the Morphing Object (m2), the Rake (m3), and the Plank (m4). Use the plank to get to the hut (m5) and get a close-up of the roof. Click the trapdoor in the close-up and open the crates to find that all the rum bottles are broken. While you’re here, take a third Sapphire from the roof.

Return to the forest now and take the other path (k7) to the hunter camp. The Collectible is in the woodpile (n1), while the Morphing Object is on the side of the tent (n2). Select the Hammock (n3) and use the knife to collect it.

Now, put the hammock in the grass (n4) and use the rake to start a gathering puzzle. See the solution below.

Collect the Pile of Leaves and place them below the cage (n5). Select the rock (n6), cut the rope, and free the centaur. Click where the cage broke (n5) and collect your fourth Sapphire.

Making the sleep bomb

Select the tent (n7), get a close-up of the desk, click the book to read the sleep bomb recipe, and afterward, take the fifth Sapphire that was underneath it. Return to the cave and add the sapphires to the altar (l5). Use the drawing to find which ones you need to light up (see solution below), then click the altar again to open it.

Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

After the cut scene, select the hanging skeleton (k8), take the Key from its pocket, and use your knife to cut some Resin from the branch in the same close-up. Take a Cone from the close-up of the other skeleton (k3) and a second Cone from the entrance to the cave in the same close-up. Get a third Cone from the bottom-right of the fireflies (k4) close-up, and then move back to the swamp.

Take a fourth Cone from the hut close-up (m5), a fifth Cone from next to the blue flower (m6), and a sixth Cone from the wood in the bottom-right corner of the swamp close-up (m7). Click the middle of this close-up to start a movement mini-game. Once complete, take the Rum and return to hunter camp.

Use the key to open the crate (n8) and take the Hand Net and Waterskin, along with a seventh Cone. Take two Cones each from the rock (n6), the hammock (n3), and the cage (n5). Take the Cauldron from the other tent (n9), along with a Manuscript and a Coil of Rope, plus your fourteenth Cone. Use the ax on the block (n10) and collect some Firewood, which also reveals a fifteenth Cone. The final Cone is in the forest close-up (n4)

Return to the forest and use the net to catch some Magnetic Fireflies (k4), and then head to the swamp and use the waterskin to collect a Bag With Mushroom Gas from the hut roof (m5). Return to camp, enter the tent (n7), and prepare the potion:

  1. Put the firewood under the cauldron stand (o1)
  2. Add the cauldron
  3. Put the fireflies in the jar on the table (o2)
  4. Put the cones, gas, and resin on the table (o2)

This starts a take on the usual missing objects puzzle.

  1. Take part of the lock from the shelves (o3)
  2. Use the lock to open the chest (o4)
  3. Take the knife and matches from the chest and test the bellows
  4. Add the knife to the grinder on the table (o2), then add the other two pieces to the grinder that were already on the table
  5. Grind the cones
  6. Grind the resin
  7. Add the fireflies and then the gas
  8. Take the bowl of ingredients
  9. Take the bucket (o5) and use it to get some water from the barrel (o3)
  10. Add the water to the cauldron, then use the matches to light the fire
  11. Use the fork  (from the table) on the post to get some nails (o6)
  12. Use the nails to fix and then take the bellows
  13. Use the bellows to stoke the fire and add the ingredients to the cauldron
  14. Take the jar from the table and put it next to the cauldron
  15. Take the scoop from the floor (o7), use it on the cauldron, and collect the Sleeping Potion

You can now return to the forest, select the skeleton (k3), and take its Belt. Select the potion in your inventory, add the rum, and then use the belt to make a Sleep Bomb. Drop it into the hole in the same skeleton close-up and you’ll knock out the manticore.

The centaur village

Use the rope on the hole and head back into the cave. Click the altar to open it, click the lamp, add the centaur hair, and pick up the Search Lantern. Return to the camp and use the lantern on the path the centaur took (n11) to reveal her hoofprints. Click them to follow the path to the swamp, then select the footprints there (m8) to move on to the village gate.

Take the Collectible (p1) and the Morphing Object (p2), and then use the ax to cut the roots (p3) and collect the Manuscript once you reveal the light puzzle. Use your knife to try to pry open the shield (p4), but it breaks in the process. Take the Dagger from the door (p5), read the attached note, then use the dagger on the shield to find a Clue

Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

Return to the hole under the wall (p3), add the clue, then complete the light puzzle. Switch the light colors by clicking them to make the patterns on the paper (see above for the solution). Once complete, the gate will open, so move on to the centaur village.

Once you’ve collected the Morphing Object (q1) and the Collectible (q2), select the tree (q3) and collect the Hook. Move forward to Ziruk courtyard (q4) to find the chief’s hut ablaze. Return to the village, select the mechanism on the left (q5), and remove the broken pipe. Head back outside and use the ax to cut a Bamboo Trunk (p6), which you can use to replace it (q5).

Move back to the Ziruk courtyard and grab the Stick (r1) and the Morphing Object (r2). Use the stick to prop up the roof (r3), which reveals the Collectible (r4). Now click the doors (r5) and get a close-up of the fire. Select the workbench (r6), take the Pincers, and grab the Rune from the stone wall (r7).

Go right back to the greenhouse, use the pincers on the Hose (b3), and then collect it. Return to the village and attach the hose (q5), then click the hose on the ground to extend it to the Ziruk courtyard. Click the valve where you attached the hose (q5) and you’ll put out the fire.
