Expanding your territory is important for establishing dominance on the map. To do this, you'll use your influence, which is non-existent at the start. Here are the best ways to improve the influence of Manor Lords and conquer other territories.
Best ways to increase influence fast in Manor Lords
The best way to use influence in Manor Lords is to unlock nearby regions. This way, you'll get another town that functions separately. By doing this, you're expanding your territory and unlocking the trading between regions. Here's how to get influence quickly in Manor Lords.
- Upgrade the church - You can easily upgrade the church even before you upgrade the town. You'll need roof tiles to upgrade to a stone church, so simply import them via trade post instead of building a complete clay industry.
- Upgrade your settlement—Improving your town is the most organic way to increase your influence. The more your village looks like a modern medieval town, the more points you'll earn.
- Defeat bandits - Facing bandits is my favorite way of earning influence, as you also receive spoils of war after you beat them. While you can chase them with Militia, the best way is to send mercenaries. Contrary to your Militia, if mercenaries die, they won't negatively influence your economy. They are more expensive, but if your economy is healthy, you'll have no problem spending wealth on them.
- Enact policies—You can pass several legislations to your people. Be careful, as these can be a two-edged sword, as they give and take at the same time. But more importantly, you'll receive influence points upon enacting a new policy.

Best ways to spend influence points in Manor Lords
You'll use influence primarily to claim other regions and expand your territory. For example, to claim a new region, you need 1000 influence points. But that's not the only role it has. If you want to experience Manor Lords in its full capacity, you should set up a scenario with as many enemies as possible. With a constant threat of conflict, diplomacy is the best solution, but it uses influence points (think of it as a medieval version of phone text messages).
