Manor Lords allows players to craft and collect an impressive variety of items for their kingdom, including valuable commodities like Candles. It's not entirely clear how to obtain them, however, and if you're wondering what's required, here is our handy guide for how to get Candles in Manor Lords.
How to unlock Candles in Manor Lords
As of this writing, Candles are a commodity item that you cannot currently make in Manor Lords, you can only obtain them through trading with your Trading Post(s). As the game is in its very first phase of Early Access, the ability to craft Candles simply hasn't been added yet.
We do anticipate that it will be available soon enough, since the Development skill tree already features both Beekeeping and Advanced Beekeeping, with the third tier locked due to Early Access development. In the meantime, if you already have Apiaries set up, you can still sell the Honey and Wax they make via your Market(s) and trade, and import Candles if you wish.
How to stock up on Honey and Wax in Manor Lords
While candle crafting may not be a thing yet, you can still get a head start on building up your wax stores if you want. That means you'll need to add Apiaries to your village/town, which takes a few steps.
To start, you'll need to upgrade your settlement to at least a Small Village (build 5 x Level 1 Burgage Plots), if not further. Each time you do, you'll receive a Development Point to spend on a unique type of infrastructure.
One option that's immediately available is Beekeeping, which unlocks Apiaries in your Build Menu. These will provide your village/town with Honey, but remember not to build more than two of them, as the output is capped at two. You'll also need 2 x Planks for each Apiary, so make sure your Sawpit has some on hand.

After getting another Development Point you can then unlock Advanced Beekeeping (the next tier which will allow your Apiaries to also produce Wax). This is the fundamental ingredient for making Candles, and until that becomes an option in the game, you can sell or trade some of it to help buff up your regional wealth and keep the rest in a Storehouse.
Alternatively, you may just want to hold off on Beekeeping altogether until they become fully productive in the game. There are other features on the Development skill tree (e.g. - Charcoal Burning, Forest Management, Sheep Breeding) that are honestly more valuable to start off with.
That concludes our guide for how to get Candles in Manor Lords. We hope you found this helpful, and let us know which commodities you personally think are the best to prioritize in the game.
