The road to gold and glory starts with a simple charcoal, as without that, your villagers will have a hard time surviving harsh medieval living conditions. Here's how to get charcoal in Manor Lords and keep your workers warm and satisfied.
How to make Charcoal in Minor Lords
You must unlock and build a Charcoal Kiln to create charcoal in Manor Lords. Unfortunately, this building is locked, so you must plan your city building accordingly. If you don't plan production carefully, you'll face a charcoal shortage. Luckily, all is not lost, as you can also import charcoal to your region. Having said that, focus on domestic production, as it's cheaper and faster.
How to unlock the Charcoal Kiln in Manor Lords
To unlock the Charcoal Kiln building, you must upgrade your town to level 1 (Small village). Doing this will unlock the Development skill tree, where you'll get one development point to spend. Development points are awarded only after reaching the next town level, so spend your first point on Charcoal Burning. I foolishly chose Sheep improvement instead of unlocking the Charcoal Burning and had to turn to trade.
How to trade for Charcoal in Manor Lords
You must build a Trading Post to trade for charcoal in Manor Lords. Follow the step-by-step explanation below to start importing this important resource.
- Build a Trading Post next to the road.
- Click the Trade tab and scroll down to find charcoal.
- Click the button on the right side of the screen to establish a major trade route.
- Click on the slider on the left side and select the Import option.
- Set a goal for how many resources you need to import (you don't need more than 10 in the beginning. That will give you enough time to unlock and build the Charcoal Kiln).
How to use Charcoal in Manor Lords
Charcoal and firewood are needed to make fuel, which is used, among other things, to warm villagers in Manor Lords. While you have some in reserves at the start, start charcoal production as soon as possible. If villagers are cold, especially during the winter season, their happiness and work efficiency will drop. You'll also need charcoal and fuel for crafting tools and weapons at later stages, so keep your charcoal reserves optimal.
