- CL4NK is a beginner character with a ranged weapon that shoots multiple projectiles. He is slow and has a very low health pool but does have a shield that can absorb a few attacks before he starts losing HP.
- You should increase his movement speed, HP, HP Regen, and Shield to improve his survivability. Items like Oats, Medkit, and Turbo Socks will help. Add Armor or Shield stats from Charge Shrines when you don't get better options like Projectile Count, Damage, or Crit stats.
- A Crit-focused build is the best build for CL4NK. However, beginners should turn him into a tank who deals damage with ranged weapons (Build 2).

CL4NK is far from the easiest character to play and master in Megabonk. But, if you know what you’re doing, it’s easy to see why the character constantly features in the Megabonk leaderboards. In this guide, we’ve shared three of the best CL4NK builds in Megabonk that take this character from fragile to OP.
Best Megabonk CL4NK Builds

CL4NK’s strength is his ranged, crit-based weapon that scales easily and endlessly if you can hit the right synergies. However, you must also improve his low HP pool and slow movement speed to maximize his potential. Below, we’ve listed three solid builds that do these basics but also offer something unique for different playstyles.
Build 1 - Crit Overdrive
This is pretty much the standard build for CL4NK, as it goes all-in on his crit abilities. From the Weapons to Tomes to Items, everything comes together to snowball his Crit Chances and Damage.
| Weapons | Tomes | Items |
|---|---|---|
| Revolver Katana Bone Aura | Precision Tome Damage Tome Quantity Tome Cooldown Tome | Forbidden Juice Clover Time Bracelet Gym Sauce Battery Turbo Socks Demonic Blade Backpack Grandma’s Secret Tonic Chonkplate Holy Book |
Why It Works: The build doubles down on one-shotting enemies as Revolver and Katana constantly land critical hits thanks to CL4NK’s passive and the Precision Tome synergizing and Forbidden Juice adding the extra Crit Chance boost.
The Damage and Quantity Tomes work scale the projectile and damage of Revolver, Katana, and Bone, and the Cooldown Tome will eventually turn all projectiles into ever-present. Just don’t forget to increase the Revolver’s and Bone’s bounce every chance you get.
Aura is more of a safety net in case you don’t get the movement speed boosting items early or get caught in a tricky swarm situation.
If you do get the Demonic Blade, you will gain some Lifesteal, but that alone won’t cover for CL4NK’s low HP. So, items that can boost HP, HP regeneration, and shield should be on your radar at all times.
Build 2 - The Iron Tank
The standard crit-based build for CL4NK can be too punishing for beginners who have yet to master Megabonk’s movement mechanics. But, if you still want to play with CL4NK to unlock Desert, use this build.
| Weapons | Tomes | Items |
|---|---|---|
| Revolver Aegis Bananarang Aura | HP Tome/Shield Tome Quantity Tome Cooldown Tome Precision Tome | Oats Medkit Chonkplate Forbidden Juice Slippery Ring Turbo Socks Turbo Skates Demonic Blade Demonic Blood Brass Knuckles Mirror Spicy Meatball Clover Time Bracelet Battery Holy Book |
Why It Works: This build creates a balance between attack and defense, so you can last longer by tanking some incoming damage if you can’t avoid it via movement. Aegis, along with his shield, provides an added layer of defense that gets better with Quantity Tome (also increases Revolver projectiles for more damage). The same goes for Bananarang.
Cooldown Tome will increase the attack speed of all weapons. HP Tome and Shield Tome are interchangeable. Whichever one you get first, use Items and Charge Shrines to get the other’s effects.
Precision Tome is the better choice than the Damage Tome because it will provide both the Crit Chance and Crit Damage upgrades. Movement and HP/HP Regen-based items will make things a bit easier. Talk to the Shady Guys and hope for some Lifesteal items. Those snowball with Revolver’s and Bananarang’s hits.
Build 3 - The Holy Trinity Build
If CL4NK isn’t already challenging enough for you, this build will get you the adrenaline rush you’re after. This is a high-risk, high-reward build that relies on luck and quick scaling by farming stronger and quicker enemies.
| Wapons | Tomes | Items |
|---|---|---|
| Revolver Aura Katana Sniper Rifle | XP Tome Luck Tome Cursed Tome Damage Tome/Precision Tome | Grandma’s Secret Tonic Gas Mask Backpack Echo Shard Demonic Blood Demonic Blade Skuleg Turbo Socks Forbidden Juice Boss Buster Battery Medkit Gym Sauce Clover Time Bracelet Wrench |
Why It Works: The XP Tome x Luck Tome x Cursed Tome is the meta-breaking combo that speeds up your character scaling because you’re earning more XP (XP Tome) by killing more enemies (Cursed Tome) and getting better rewards for it (Luck Tome).
Basically, you’ll be scaling stats like Damage, Crit, Projectile Count, and Attack Speed by quickly leveling up instead of relying on Tomes and Items. That’s the high reward you get if you can manage the high risk (low HP that leaves you prone to getting one-shot by bosses).
If the RNG gods smile at you early on and you manage to find HP boosting or Lifesteal items early on that scale well with Revolver, things will get slightly easier. But, you’ll still have to do most of the heavy-lifting by manually protecting CL4NK from any incoming damage. This build has no give and zero room for error.
The Luck Tome should help you get all the Legendary Items listed above, so scaling damage and improving movement speed won’t really be a problem.

Try the build that is easier for you to replicate or the one that best suits your playstyle. Let us know how many kills you get and how many minutes you survive. We’d also love to see your unique builds, so do leave them in the comments section below.
Megabonk CL4NK FAQs
A crit-based build is the best CL4NK build in Megabonk because it takes full advantage of his passive (+1% Crit Chance per level up). Use the Precision Tome and other Crit-based weapons like the Katana. Aura hitting multiple enemies at the same time is also good for a crit-based build.

CL4NK Starter Weapon and Passive
CL4NK’s starter weapon is the Revolver that fires multiple bullets and thrives on Crit Chance and Crit Damage. Increase projectile count and attack speed to get the best out of the Revolver. Projectile bounces will also massively increase the damage output of the Revolver.
| Strengths | Weaknesses | Passive |
|---|---|---|
| Strong Starting Weapon: Revolver's base damage is decent, and the multiple projectiles are good for early-game farming. Crit Chance Passive: Passively increasing Crit Chance makes Revolver even more deadly. | Slow & Weak: Very slow movement and low health pool early. | Gain +1% Crit Chance per level. |
