- Ninja is a glass cannon who uses the Katana, a melee weapon that scales with Size, Projectile Count, Crit Chance, Crit Damage, and Damage. He is an agile character with good movement speed and jump height.
- Every time Ninja evades an enemy attack, he executes that enemy. For bosses, evasion doesn't execute but deals massive burst damage. Chances of evasion increase as you level up the character. Increase movement speed and evasion from Charge Shrines and Items.
- Unlock Ninja by completing Desert Tier 1 and finding the Katana weapon by breaking the Tumbleweeds found in the Desert map.
The Ninja is an agile and lethal character in Megabonk who can jump and weave between enemies while slicing them up with his Katana. Ninja is a glass cannon, but he can fit multiple playstyles. Here are the best Ninja builds in Megabonk.
Ninja Starter Weapon & Passive
Ninja's passive is called Shadowstep, and it can execute an enemy upon evading them. He also gains 0.5% Evasion per level. This means if you get your evasion high enough, you'll execute thousands of enemies just by evading their attacks. Unfortunately, Evasion has a soft cap that gives diminishing returns as you keep increasing the stat. Note that some bosses might be immune to evasion.
As for his starter weapon, Ninja starts of with the Katana, which is now recognized as one of the best weapons in Megabonk.

Best Megabonk Ninja Builds
Build 1 - Size Scaling Build
This build pairs the Katana's size scaling with other weapons that benefit from Size and Damage scalings to create a unique build where Ninja does not struggle against hordes of enemies as he normally might.
| Weapons | Tomes | Items |
|---|---|---|
| Katana Aura Aegis Black Hole | Size Tome Damage Tome XP Tome/Precision Tome Luck Tome | Slurp Gloves Thunder Mitts Spicy Meatball Big Bonk Cursed Doll Borgar Gym Sauce Brass Knuckles Slippery Ring |
Why It Works: Katana scales with Size Tome and eventually covers the whole screen making it one of the best Tomes for Ninja's default weapon Katana. The Size Tome also pairs incredibly well with Aura and Black Hole, the latter of which is part of several World Record runs, as it can pin down hordes of enemies, especially in the late-game. Aura is also an incredibly powerful weapon, and paired with Size and Damage Tomes, it prevents enemies from getting close to Ninja. Last but not least, Aegis is a defensive option that prevents you from dying if enemies manage to penetrate your defensive walls.

XP and Luck Tomes are simply the best meta picks if you want to scale up to a level where you can demolish late-game enemies. However, if you're playing casually for fun, you can also pick the Cooldown Tome and Evasion Tome, both of which pair quite well with Ninja's weapon and passives.
Build 2 - Hit and Run
This Ninja build uses a hit-and-run playstyle that maximizes your damage and mobility for an extremely fast-paced but fun experience. Relatively high risk early-game but high reward once you get it set up.
| Weapons | Tomes | Items |
|---|---|---|
| Katana Revolver Flamewalker Shotgun/Aura/Aegis | Evasion Tome Size Tome Agility Tome Damage Tome | Slippery Ring Borgar Gym Sauce Cursed Doll Turbo Socks Demonic Blade Golden Sneakers Phantom Shroud Bob Turbo Skates |
Why It Works: This build makes use of Ninja's unique hit-and-run playstyle to create a purely offensive build with an emphasis on running and gunning enemies while having lots of damage and evasion. Evasion is unreliable early, so we stack powerful weapons like Katana, Revolver, and Flamewalker, which pair with Size and Damage Tomes to get you through most of the early game. Once you have high enough evasion and manual mobility to dodge enemies, your offense will shine even more as you become an untouchable ninja who executes enemies just by existing.
For your fourth weapon slot, you can pick Shotgun for additional offense, Aura to pair with Flamewalker, or Aegis for a defensive option for when you do slow down and get caught between enemies. The items are all optimized for maximum movement speed, maximum damage, and gold gain based on this increased movement speed and evasion.
Build 3 - Lawnmower Build
This build asks the question, what if you had four swords instead of one? With all four swords equipped Ninja can become a livesteal and evasion demon that cuts down anything that dares get close to him while dodging and healing through all threats.
| Weapons | Tomes | Items |
|---|---|---|
| Katana Dexecutioner Hero Sword Cursed Sword | Cooldown Tome Quantity Tome Size Tome/Bloody Tome Evasion Tome | Grandma's Secret Tonic Slutty Cannon Bloodmark Lightning Orb Cursed Grabbies Slippery Ring Backpack Demonic Blade Forbidden Juice Battery Holy Book |
Why It Works: While this is mostly a for-fun build, the Dexecutioner and Katana, when paired with the right Tomes, are devastating weapons that can easily carry you to a top 5% run. The sword weapons, when paired with Cooldown, Quantity, and Size tomes, give you almost permanent uptime on high damage slashes and projectiles around you. The biggest weakness of this build is being weak to random one-hit kills. However, Ninja, with his Evasion, can offset this weakness by simply dodging the incoming attacks.
Bloody Tome pairs very well with the Cursed Sword, and Evasion Tome ensures you can dodge even at low HP. The items recommended all improve your raw damage, evasion, and base stats to make up for some of the sword weapon weaknesses.
Megabonk Ninja FAQs
Yes, Ninja is very good in Megabonk, especially in the longer runs where his weapons and items synergies really kick in. Katana scales with Damage, Crit, and Size, while Joe's Dagger is mixed with Evasion Tome or evasion-boosting items will make him a one-hit character by the time you reach the late game.
The Evasion Tome does synergize very well with his passive and increases the chance of executing enemies. Katana also scales well with Quantity Tome and Size Tome, making these three the best options for Ninja in Megabonk.
To unlock Ninja in Megabonk, you need to get the Katana weapon and complete Desert Tier 1. The Katana weapon can be found by breaking the tumbleweeds found on the Desert map.
Ninja's glaring weakness is his low health pool. He starts with 100 HP and 0 HP Regen, Shield, and Armor. To counter that, you can use the HP Tome, Armor Tome, or Shield Tome. If you're going for a Hit-and-Run type build, you can skip these tomes and instead improve his survivability with items like Oats and Medkit and gain HP, HP Regen, Shield, and Armor from Charge Shrines.
