The Megabonk Spooky Update is out now, and, along with a new map, items, bosses, and weapons, we also got a brand-new character called Roberto. This guide shares the best Roberto build for the current meta so that you can get the most out of the character.
Roberto Starter Weapon & Passives
Roberto starts with the Scythe, a new weapon with a 360-degree attack. It is projectile-based, does good damage, and has decent base attack speed. The Scythe also has a passive that charges a stronger attack every time you kill an Elite Enemy. It scales with Size, Quantity, Cooldown, and Damage upgrades.
Roberto’s passive is called Hoarder, which rewards you with a free chest every 60 seconds. As you level up, the chest spawns every 120 seconds. He also has the float ability, which makes him good for bunny-hopping across the map.
Focus on survivability early because Roberto has low base HP. Once you solve that problem, Roberto becomes a high-DPS character, especially if you use the following build.

Best Megabonk Roberto Build - Floaty Killer
The best build for Roberto is the one that will increase his survivability, boost damage output, and improve movement. See the table below for all the Weapons, Tomes, and Items that you can use to achieve that.
| Weapons | Tomes | Items |
|---|---|---|
| Scythe Aura Bone/Revolver Lightning Staff/Blood Magic | Luck Tome Size Tome Damage/Quantity Tome Agility Tome/Cooldown Tome | Feathers Chonkplate Holy Book Old Mask Overpowered Lamp Turbo Socks Beefy Ring Scarf Speed Boi Sucky Magnet |
Why it Works: Items are still the most important part of any build, even in the Megabonk Spooky Update meta. So, this build relies on trying to get the best items early that you can scale easily.
Thanks to Roberto’s passive that grants a free chest every minute, you don’t have to worry much about getting items. You just need to make sure that they are high quality, and Luck Tome ensures that. Use the Toggler to turn off low-tier items, pick the Luck Tome early, and you’ll be getting Legendaries well before you clear Tier 1.
Aura will massively increase your survivability during the early game, which is a real issue for Roberto. HP boosting items will help a lot, and Chonkplate is a must-have. For the final weapons, add any ranged weapon. Bone and Revolver will offer bounce. Lightning Staff and Blood Magic turn into AoE weapons after enough upgrades. So, the choice is yours, but definitely add a ranged weapon to your build, or you’ll struggle against bosses.
Agility Tome is a good choice, but if you get Feathers and Turbo Socks early, go for the Cooldown Tome instead to improve DPS. Size Tome is also a must-have. It’ll improve the range of the Scythe, and you’ll be cleaving mobs instantly.
Other meta items like Moldy Cheese, Sucky Magnet, Time Bracelet, Anvil, and Credit Cards are definitely worth picking up whenever possible.
As the name suggests, the success of this build relies on your floating/kitting abilities, especially early on. Roberto isn’t the tankiest character in Megabonk, but he does good damage. So, if you can keep your distance, you’ll definitely enjoy playing with Roberto.
Megabonk Roberto FAQs
The Luck Tome is the best tome to use when playing with Roberto. It will improve the quality of items you get when opening the free chests that Roberto gets every 60 seconds.
Along with the Scythe, any ranged weapon like Revolver, Bananarang, or Bone will provide you with a mix of short and long-range damage. If you do run the Size Tome (as you should with the Scythe), weapons like Aura, Blood Magic, and Dexecutioner will also perform well.
HP, Luck, and XP boosting items should be a priority when playing with Roberto. After that, you can start gathering the meta-breaking items like the Pot, Overpowered Lamp, Chonkplate, and more. Feathers will also improve Roberto’s kitting, so that’s a good item to pick up as well.
