Best Tony McZoom Builds in Megabonk – Stats, Hit-n-Run, Crit, & Hybrid

Tony McZoom by zoomin'!

Tony McZoom is another speed demon in Megabonk, and to get the best out of him, you must focus on improving his survivability while snowballing his agility and burst damage. You’ll find three different Tony McZoom builds in this guide that will help you better understand the various synergies and weaknesses of the character. So, let’s get right into it!

Best Tony McZoom Builds in Megabonk

We’ve suggested three different Tony McZoom builds below. If you can’t get the required Tomes and Items early for one build, pivot to the other instead of restarting. Build 1 is the best Tony McZoom build for the current Megabonk meta. The other two are backups/alternates for players who want to try something different.

Build 1 - Zooming Tony

This is the best build for Tony McZoom as it plays to his strengths (movement and damage) and covers up his weaknesses (defense and survivability). The table below lists the Weapons, Tomes, and Items that you need to go after.

WeaponsTomesItems
Wireless Dagger
Tornado/Slutty Rocket
Lightning Staff/Firestaff
Aegis
Quantity Tome
Cooldown Tome
Damage Tome
Luck Tome
Wrench
Time Bracelet
Beefy Ring
Moldy Cheese
Gym Sauce
Oats
Medkit
Big Bonk
Boss Buster
Spicy Meatball
Turbo Socks
Turbo Skates
Anvil

Why It Works: This build relies on Tony’s movement speed and passive for quick scaling. The “Devastating Trio” of Quantity, Cooldown, and Damage Tome will boost the DPS of every weapon suggested above. Aegis will add a much-needed layer of defense, scaling with the Quantity Tome to increase survivability.

The Luck Tome will improve the choices you get from shrines and Items you get from chests, but if you don’t have the fourth slot unlocked, you can leave it out.

HP and damage boosting items are a priority if you’re going for this build. Other meta items like Moldy Cheese, Time Bracelet, Anvil, and Wrench are just as important.

You’ll have to orbit back on occasion to pick up the XP, but that won’t be a problem with Tony’s speed. This build will fail if you don’t add another boost to Tony’s movement with Items like Turbo Socks and Turbo Skates. It’ll also fail if you can’t control the added speed and agility during the late game.

Build 2 - Tony Crit

With a multi-hit weapon like Wireless Dagger as his main, Tony McZoom can do well with a crit-based build. Playstyle will still be hit-n-run, but a majority of those hits will be Crits, making this a better build for boss runs.

WeaponsTomesItems
Wireless Dagger
Revovler
Dice
Aegis
Precision Tome
Quantity Tome
Damage Tome
XP Tome
Turbo Skates
Forbidden Juice
Gym Sauce
Giant Fork
Grandma’s Secret Tonic
Demonic Soul
Backpack
Demonic Blade
Wrench
Time Bracelet
Clover

Why It Works: This build solely relies on getting the Precision Tome, Quantity Tome, and Forbidden Juice early. If you don’t get these three things before the second swarm hits, pivot to Build 1. The core of this build is increased weapon projectiles = higher crit chance. Precision Tome and Forbidden Juice will take care of that while the Damage Tome scales Crit Damage.

XP Tome will also speed up your scaling, so you can upgrade weapons quickly. Do not miss out on Crit Chance upgrades for Dice and Revolver. Stack as many Turbo Saktes as you can. It’ll scale your attack speed using Tony’s movement speed.

You can wait for the Items, but if you don’t get the Precision Tome early, pivot to Build 1.

Build 3 - Tank DPS Hybrid

This is a beginner-friendly Tony McZoom build. However, you’ll need a lot of luck early on because the build relies heavily on some Legendary items. You can see this build in action at the Manta YouTube channel.

WeaponsTomesItems
Wireless Dagger
Dice
Blood Magic
Aegis
Quantity Tome
Regen Tome
HP Tome
Cooldown Tome
Chonkplate
Gas Mask
Moldy Cheese
Demonic Blade
Beacon
Medkit
Wrench
Time Bracelet
Slutty Cannon
Demonic Soul
Oats
Beefy Ring
Gym Sauce

Why It Works: If you like Tony’s movement but don’t like his fragility, try this build. It creates a hybrid Tony McZoom that can deal damage and tank it as well, using a mix of weapons (Aegis, Blood Magic), Tomes (Regen Tome, HP Tome), and Items (Chonkplate, Oats, Demonic Blade).

With the Quantity and Cooldown Tome, the increased projectiles of all four weapons will increase your DPS. Aegis and Blood Magic will increase your survivability by absorbing hits and increasing Max HP, respectively. HP Tome will further increase your Max HP, and Regen Tome speeds up HP regeneration, synergizing very well with Chonkplate’s overhealing. Demonic Blade will also add some Lifesteal with Dice.

The large number of projectiles will make up for the low damage, but if you think the damage is too low, go for items like the Beefy Ring and Gym Sauce for flat damage increase.

Tony McZoom Starter Weapon and Passive

Tony McZoom’s starter weapon is the Wireless Dagger. It’ll unlock once you get the Lightning Staff to Level 15 during a run. The Wireless Dagger is a ranged weapon that automatically targets the closest enemies. Increased duration, projectile count, and projectile bounces will increase the DPS of the Wireless Dagger. It also synergizes well with the Damage Tome.

StrengthsWeaknessesPassive
High Agility: Tony McZoom is one of the quickest characters in Megabonk, perfect for Hit-n-Run builds.
No Fall Damage: Unlike other high mobility characters, Tony McZoom takes no fall damage.
Faster Scaling: His passive increases XP Pickup Range per level. More XP = faster scaling for weapons and tomes.
HP & Survivability: Low health pool and survivability early on.
Charges and electric attack by moving around
Gain +2% Pickup Range per level.
