How to Obtain Items in Megabonk
Items in Megabonk can boost your damage, increase survivability, and even grant more lives to your character if you're lucky enough to get the Za Warudo. In other words, Items are just as crucial for your run's success as the Weapons and Tomes. So, here's a list of all the ways you can obtain items in Megabonk:
- Kill Elites and Bosses: Some Elites can drop treasure chests that will grant you a random item. The first Elite you kill will always drop a treasure chest. Mini-bosses and stage bosses have a confirmed treasure chest drop.
- Shady Guy: The shady guys standing at random locations across the map sell items in exchange for Gold. Each will have different items of different rarities. The color of their hat is an indicator of the rarity of the items they're selling. Never miss a Yellow Hat Shady Guy.
- Moai (Heads): The giant heads spread across the map, called Moai, are the best source of obtaining items because they give you 2-3 options and are completely free. They are slightly hard to find during some runs, mostly hidden among trees or other structures of stone.
- Treasure Chests: Apart from the chests dropped by Elites and Bosses, there are tons of chests spread all over the map that you can open for Gold. These have random items, and the price increases every time you open a chest. Yellow chests are completely free.
Higher Luck will give you better items from all the above-mentioned sources. So, if you find Yellow treasure chests and Moai early, wait until you've increased your luck to get the best items for free. The same goes for the brown treasure chests. Shady Guy's offerings aren't affected by your Luck stat.
Joe's Dagger has been nerfed, reducing it's broken damage output during the late game. It now has a max damage cap of 200/minute. This balancing nefs the Dexecutioner x Joe's Dagger combo.
