How to find the Plasma Beam in Metroid Prime Remastered

Time for Samus to bring the heat.

Metroid Prime Remastered brings back three of the major beams that Samus normally gets on her adventures: the Wave Beam, the Ice Beam and the Plasma Beam. Out of all of these, though, the Plasma Beam is easily the toughest to find. Players will have to backtrack through Magmoor Caverns to get this important upgrade.

The Plasma Beam in Metroid Prime Remastered is found in the Geothermal Core, a room in Magmoor Caverns with three cylindrical platforms. It's a huge room, but at first, Samus can't do much in there but cross through. This is because there are actually Boost Ball slots which Samus can use, but only when she gets the Grapple Beam.

After grabbing the Grapple Beam upgrade, head to the Geothermal Core, jump on the platforms and Grapple Beam across to find the first Boost Ball slot. Using the Boost Ball raises part of the platform high over Samus. When she does this on all three platforms, she can actually reach the top of the room.

At this point, the roof will actually raise higher, revealing a Spider Ball puzzle that wraps around the whole room. This may sound intimidating, but the puzzle is actually a piece of cake; it just takes a while. At the end of the puzzle will be the room which holds the Plasma Beam. This becomes very important to Samus later on, as she will need the Plasma Beam to get through the rest of Phazon Mines.
