Cobblemon has grown massively since its early days when only Generation 1 was available. As of v1.7.3 on Minecraft 1.21.1, the mod features a roster of 851 implemented Pokémon spanning every generation from Kanto to Paldea—making it the most comprehensive Pokémon experience in Minecraft. Whether you're looking to build a competitive team, hunt for Legendaries, or just explore with your favorite Pokémon from any generation, there's an enormous selection to choose from. If you haven't installed the mod yet, check out our step-by-step Cobblemon installation guide.

How Many Pokémon Are in Cobblemon?

As of Cobblemon v1.7.3 (January 2026), there are 851 fully implemented Pokémon with complete 3D models, animations, and spawn data. The mod also contains species data for all 1,025 Pokémon from the mainline games—meaning every Pokémon from Gen 1 through Gen 9 can be spawned and used in battles. Pokémon that haven't received their finished 3D model yet will appear as substitute dolls (a placeholder model), but they function fully in battles with accurate stats, moves, abilities, and evolution chains.

New Pokémon models are added with each major Cobblemon update. Version 1.7 alone introduced over 40 new models, including fan favorites like Houndour, Houndoom, Excadrill, Noivern, Dunsparce, Dudunsparce, and many more. The development team continues to work toward full model coverage for all 1,025 species.

Which Generations Are in Cobblemon?

All nine Pokémon generations are represented in Cobblemon. Here's an overview of what each generation offers and the approximate number of implemented Pokémon per generation. Note that exact counts change with each update as new models are added:

Generation 1 — Kanto (151 Pokémon)

The complete Kanto Pokédex is fully implemented in Cobblemon, including all 151 original Pokémon from Bulbasaur through Mew. Every Gen 1 Pokémon has a finished 3D model, custom animations, and proper spawn conditions. You'll find Kanto starters (Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle) available as starter picks when you begin a new world, and Legendaries like Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, and Mewtwo are available through special spawn conditions. Eevee and all its original three Eeveelutions (Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon) are here too.

Generation 2 — Johto (100 Pokémon)

Johto is well-represented with the majority of its 100 Pokémon implemented. This includes the Gen 2 starters (Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile), cross-generational evolutions like Crobat, Espeon, Umbreon, Steelix, Scizor, and Kingdra, and iconic Pokémon like Miltank, Blissey, and Hitmontop. Many Johto Pokémon that were missing in early Cobblemon versions have been steadily added through updates.

Generation 3 — Hoenn (135 Pokémon)

Hoenn starters Treecko, Torchic, and Mudkip are fully implemented along with a growing roster of Gen 3 Pokémon. Notable additions include Sableye, Wailmer, Wailord, Torkoal, Ludicolo, and Shiftry. Many Hoenn Pokémon have been added in the 1.6 and 1.7 update waves, including Latias and Latios. Hoenn continues to see new models with each update.

Generation 4 — Sinnoh (107 Pokémon)

The Sinnoh generation is heavily represented, with starters Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup all available. Key Gen 4 Pokémon include Garchomp, Lucario, Spiritomb, and the many cross-generational evolutions that Gen 4 introduced—Magnezone, Rhyperior, Electivire, Magmortar, Tangrowth, Mamoswine, Porygon-Z, and Probopass. All original Eeveelutions added in Gen 4 (Leafeon and Glaceon) are also implemented.

Generation 5 — Unova (156 Pokémon)

Unova starters (Snivy, Tepig, Oshawott) are available, alongside a growing selection of the generation's 156 Pokémon. Cobblemon 1.7 added several notable Gen 5 Pokémon including Excadrill, Mienshao, and Reuniclus. Other implemented favorites include Emolga, Galvantula, Golurk, Sigilyph, and the seasonal Deerling/Sawsbuck. Unova has one of the largest rosters, so new models continue to be added with each update.

Generation 6 — Kalos (72 Pokémon)

Kalos starters Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie are implemented along with popular Pokémon like Greninja, Aegislash, Sylveon, Gourgeist, and Avalugg. The 1.7 update added several Gen 6 Pokémon including Gogoat, Furfrou, Dedenne, and Skiddo. Kalos is a smaller generation, so it has relatively high coverage.

Generation 7 — Alola (88 Pokémon)

Alolan starters Rowlet, Litten, and Popplio are available along with their full evolution lines. Alolan regional forms of Gen 1 Pokémon (like Alolan Vulpix, Alolan Raichu, etc.) are implemented as well. Other Gen 7 highlights include Tsareena, Shiinotic, Pyukumuku, and Dhelmise. The Alola roster continues to expand with each update.

Generation 8 — Galar (96 Pokémon)

Galarian starters Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble are fully implemented. Gen 8 additions include Wooloo, Centiskorch, Alcremie, Eiscue, and Galarian regional forms. Hisui-origin Pokémon like Wyrdeer and Kleavor are also present. Cobblemon 1.7 added Noivern, Toxtricity, Sinistea, Polteageist, and more Gen 8 representation.

Generation 9 — Paldea (120 Pokémon)

The newest generation has been growing steadily in Cobblemon. Gen 9 starters (Sprigatito, Fuecoco, Quaxly) are available, along with Pokémon like Tatsugiri, Cyclizar, Orthworm, Bellibolt, Brambleghast, and Scovillain. The 1.7 update significantly expanded Gen 9 representation. As the newest generation, Paldea has the most Pokémon still awaiting model implementation, so expect substantial additions in future updates.

Where Can You Look Up the Full Cobblemon Pokédex?

Because Cobblemon's roster grows with every update, the best way to check the current full list is through interactive community databases that stay up to date automatically. Here are the most reliable sources:

  • Cobblemon.tools Pokédex — Searchable database of all 851 implemented Pokémon with spawn locations, stats, item drops, and riding info. Updated with each Cobblemon release.
  • Cobbledex.info — Complete directory of all 1,025 species with filters by type and generation, plus progress tracking for implemented vs. unimplemented Pokémon.
  • Cobblemon Wiki — Pokémon — The official wiki with detailed info on Pokémon forms, riding mechanics, marks, item interactions, and Minecraft-exclusive Cobblemon forms.

What Is the Difference Between Implemented and Unimplemented Pokémon?

This is one of the most common points of confusion for new Cobblemon players. Cobblemon contains species data for all 1,025 Pokémon, meaning every Pokémon from Gen 1 through Gen 9 has accurate stats, moves, abilities, types, and evolution chains in the game files. However, only 851 of these currently have finished 3D models. The remaining ~174 Pokémon can still be spawned and used in battles, but they appear as a substitute doll (a generic placeholder model) until the art team finishes their unique model and animations.

This means you can technically battle with and use any Pokémon in Cobblemon right now—you just won't see a unique visual for unimplemented ones. The development team adds new models with each major update, so the substitute doll count shrinks over time.

Can You Get More Pokémon with Datapacks?

Yes. The Cobblemon community has created several datapacks that add custom models for Pokémon that don't yet have official ones, as well as additional forms and variants. The most popular options include:

  • AllTheMons — A collaborative datapack combining models from many community creators to fill in as many missing Pokémon as possible. Available on Modrinth.
  • Complete Cobblemon Collection (CCC) — Aims to provide models, spawns, and animations for every single Pokémon. Getting very close to full Dex completion.
  • MissingMons — Adds models for Pokémon that are missing from the base mod.

These datapacks are especially popular on multiplayer servers, where hosts often combine them to offer the most complete Pokémon experience possible. Many large modpacks like COBBLEVERSE include community datapacks that bring the total to all 1,025 Pokémon with custom models.
