How to avoid getting shut down in Monopoly GO

The best way to defend yourself from a shut down is by collecting shields. You'll still lose money, but it will be way less than without a shield, and your landmark won't be damaged. Every time your shield is broken, the landmark is now exposed, so make sure to collect more by rolling often.

Another way to avoid being shut down is by building as fast as possible. If you build fast enough, you reduce the other players' chances of landing on the railroad tile. To build, you need to collect money (more with each new board), so join special events and employ your own shut downs on others to gain in-game currency.

How to successfully shut down other players in Monopoly GO

To enact a shut down you need to keep rolling dice and landing on the railroad tiles. The more you roll and move on the board, the more opportunities you have to hit the tile. During the shut down mini-game, you can't really know if there is a shield on an opponent's building or not, as it's randomized.

There are some tactics you can employ to try and get a successful shut down. First, you can attack a building further in the back, hoping it isn't protected. From my own experience, more often than not it will be a good hit.

The second option is to attack a landmark you can see is being attacked by someone else, hoping the other person has destroyed the shield. There is also an opposite, where you hit the landmarks not currently being attacked by others. There is a limited number of shields, so if multiple landmarks are being attacked, the higher your chance is to choose the one that doesn't have a shield.

Another tip is to attack the same person multiple times with the 'switch opponent' button, especially if you get several quick shut downs in a row. This tactic can be best employed when playing with friends, and it's a perfect opportunity for revenge on someone who shut you down previously.

Monopoly has always been a game of luck and chance, so you could also grab some good luck talismans to help you win. I know I need them, since Monopoly never liked me.
