To acquire new weapons and armor, you'll need materials and zenny (money). You can accumulate both by venturing outside Mahana Village and collecting items in the field or by battling Monsters. Completing quests from the village's Quest Board is another surefire way to earn zenny quickly.

When you're ready to forge new armor or upgrade your weapon, look for the guy featured above. You can find him near the center of Mahana Village—an icon for the Smithy will also indicate the shop's location on your map. More items will become available as you progress throughout the game, so be sure to check in regularly.

How to change your equipment

When you make a purchase from the Smithy, you'll be asked whether or not you'd like to equip your new item. If you opt out of this option, you can always return to your inventory later by opening the main menu (the X button on Nintendo Switch) and toggling the icon on the bottom left corner that says Equipment.

Each armor set boasts its own unique traits, with certain strengths and weaknesses. You can even customize the color palette of your armor by visiting your character's house and interacting with the chest!
