How to lock on to monsters in Monster Hunter Rise

Target spotted!

Monster Hunter Rise is the latest entry in the Monster Hunter series. While it initially launched on the Nintendo Switch, it has since been ported to PC. This means a whole new group of Monster Hunters will rise up. But first-timers may be having trouble with the game's controls, specifically how to lock on to monsters.

To lock on to monsters in Monster Hunter Rise, you will need to press the Q key on a mouse and keyboard or press in the right analog stick on a controller. Once locked on, PC players can press the Q key again to swap between targets, while controller players must press the L button.

Locking on to monsters is an excellent way to make sure that you are attacking the correct monster as well as keeping them in your sights. The last thing you want to do is lose sight of the monster and get hit in the back. Likewise, you will want to make sure that you target the correct monster to kill it.

Once you have locked on to a monster, it will have a gold border around it to identify that it is locked on. After locking on to it, you just need to wail on it until the monster is defeated!
