EA Play Live has been canceled for 2022 along with E3

It seems as if all the gaming events are getting canceled.

IGN reports that this year's EA Play Live has been canceled. EA Play is an event hosted by Electronic Arts to announce future titles. EA Play was often released in conjecture, or proximity, to E3. An Electronic Arts representative told IGN that instead of a live event this year, the company will announce future projects "when the time is right for each of them."

The representative elaborates that EA values EA Play as a way to connect with fans and to show what's coming next, but this year "things aren't lining up to show you everything on one date," so the event was canceled. The in-person E3 event was also canceled, with the E3 organizers opting for a digital showcase again.

After years of lockdown, summer 2022 was starting to look like the return of in-person gaming events. However, with the cancelation of both EA Play and in-person E3, players are heading to the rest of the year with a lot of uncertainty regarding gaming events. This news must be unfortunate, especially for people who were very excited to get things back to normal and have in-person events again.
