Octopath Traveler 2 – The Washed Up Letter Side Story Walkthrough

The Washed Up Letter is an Octopath Traveler 2 quest you can pick up while you’re at Lighthouse Island (where you need to go to complete Lighthouse Restoration). The lighthouse keeper’s wife finds a washed up letter meant “for Ruby in Timberain,” and is asking you to bring it to her. Here’s where to find Ruby.

Where to find Ruby in Octopath Traveler 2

It may sound like a girlfriend’s name, but Ruby is actually the sender’s mother. She’s this old woman near the courthouse in Timberain (a level 45 area in the Leaflands). Speak to her once and you’ll have the option to give her the letter. If you do, you’ll find more about Emerald, the guy that helped Osvald escape Frigit Isle.

The bottle has two pages in it. One was written when Emerald and Osvald ally up and find a way to escape. The second note is written in his last moments on the boat before he set it on fire. He hopes his mom can forgive him. Ruby thanks you with some money and a good dagger.

Octopath Traveler 2 and its predecessor are the type of games where all stories have conclusions, whether it is that of a random NPC looking for inspiration or a one-time partner to an escapade.
