What is Masoud’s Treasure in Octopath Traveler 2?

If you’re visiting Sai with Partitio with you, you can trigger his Scent of Commerce quest in the area. This Octopath Traveler 2 side story involves a veteran traveler named Masoud, who is testing your Merchant mettle in exchange for his journal. However, Masoud is only willing to part with it if you can answer his riddle: What is his greatest treasure?

Octopath Traveler 2 - Scent of Commerce in Sai Walkthrough

Despite the mind games, this Scent of Commerce quest is actually one of the easier ones to finish. Just follow the steps below:

1. Use a Path Action to take Masoud’s Daughter (location depicted in the image above) with you.
2. Bring Masoud’s Daughter to her father. Masoud will tell you that your answer is incorrect, and that’s fine. Masoud’s Daughter will give you a “hint” after this event.
3. Talk to Masoud (again) at night and Hire him.

Congrats! You’ve solved the riddle. It’s a little narcissistic, but Masoud's Treasure is himself—that is, his experiences as a Merchant. Partitio hiring him because of it is the correct answer.

Masoud will also open his library, which contains books with information about the region (and outside of it). It’ll help you learn about weaknesses faster and provide a ton of lore. If you’re a huge fan of the first Octopath Traveler game, you might notice a lot of easter eggs. We’re not too sure if the events in Octopath Traveler 2 are a sequel or prequel but lo and behold—both games exist in the same world.
