Where to find the Secret Boss in Octopath Traveler 2

Abandon all hope ye who enters.

Hidden away in a corner on the map in Octopath Traveler 2 is actually a secret boss. This certainly isn't an endeavor gamers will want to try early on. The secret boss fight can be unlocked as early as players reach level 40 with their party, but even at max level players struggle defeating it. Gamers should think about completing these steps once they are ready for the endgame and not a moment before.

How to unlock Secret Boss in Octopath Traveler 2

Getting to this boss in Octopath Traveler 2 is a multistep process, but there are some prerequisites. First of all, players will need the ship through Partitio's Scent of Commerce side quest in Tropu'hopu. Secondly, the Scourge of the Sea needs to have been defeated. Players can engage in this fight by sailing to the whirlpool in-between Toto'haha and the Easter Continent.

Complete "The Traveler's Bag" quest

To actually unlock the boss fight, players will need to complete this side quest. Most players might have it done already, since every player gets access to it first, regardless of which character they pick to begin with. If not completed, gamers just need to travel outside where their first character's opening story took place (e.g. Hikari's is in Ryu). Al will have his bag stolen, and the player just needs to beat up a ruffian to retrieve it.

Start "Procuring Peculiar Tomes" quest

The next stop on the way to the secret boss is Montwise on the Eastern Continent. In the Montwise Library, players can find a quest which involves looking for three texts that the quest giver wants donated to the library. Players will need all three texts to continue.

Dispatches from Beastling Island

Head to Beastling Village in Toto'Haha. Once inside, travel towards the left to the save state. There should be a traveler there; have Throne steal the Dispatches from Beastling Island from that NPC.

The Curious Legend of the Great Wall

This text can be found just outside the gate to Stormhail. Walk backwards up the hill (as if returning to Montwise) and walk to the right when the save point comes into view. An NPC will be overlooking Stormhail; grab The Curious Legend of the Great Wall from him.

From the Far Reaches of Hell

To get this text, head to Crackridge and look for the entrance to The Bed of the Titan. Instead of traveling down the ladder, though, circle around the ramp to head to a different house. Have Throne ambush the man in front of the house and head inside. There will be a chest in the top-left corner which houses From the Far Reaches of Hell.

After collecting all of these books, players can head back to Montwise Library and hand them to the quest giver. He will mention that From the Far Reaches of Hell is written in a language that he can't decipher. After that, players can find Al on the right corner of Montwise Library. He needs the book deciphered, and will give the player the From the Far Reaches of Hell side quest.

Find Georges Lazuli

Georges Lazuli is a linguist who can translate the tome. To find him, players will need Partitio's ship to head to The Nameless Isle (above Toto'haha). Traveling around the isle will lead players to a boss called Gigantes. Defeating him will free Georges Lazuli, who in turn will be able to translate the forbidden tome.

Look for ??? Island
