How to fix ‘Client Requested Disconnect’ in Overwatch 2

May the internet connections be ever in your favor.

Overwatch 2 players are no strangers to odd errors appearing on their screen. One of the more annoying ones is the "Client Requested Disconnect" error; this might go away after a time, but there is always a chance of it resurfacing. Thankfully, there are a couple easy steps to get that error message off the screen.

Fixes for 'Client Requested Disconnect' in Overwatch 2

Overwatch 2 players can get the Client Requested Disconnect error for different reasons, some of which are due to internet connection, and others to servers. Either way, here are things any player can do to get back online:

  • Close out of Overwatch 2 and reopen it again.
  • Restart the PC or console.
  • Reset the internet connection by unplugging the router, waiting for 20-30 minutes, and turning on the router again.
  • Check Overwatch Twitter to see if there is anything causing the servers to malfunction.

If the above steps do not work, it's likely an issue with the servers, which means gamers will have to wait for the issue to resolve until they can get back online.

Blizzard also has a Known Issues forum on their blog. This is another great place to check in case the servers might be down at the moment. The Overwatch blog gets refreshed frequently with up-to-date news on the server and even hero changes.

One more great habit that Overwatch 2 players should get into is checking the bottom left corner of the home screen when they load into the game. If the server is going through maintenance, a message will most likely be shown in that corner.
