Dungeons are a great way to find rare Pals and valuable loot in Palworld; however, they're also difficult challenges that will put you and your companions to the test. Here's everything you need to know about finding Palworld dungeons, what you can expect to face, and the rewards you'll earn.
How to find dungeons in Palworld
Palworld dungeons appear as large cave entrances scattered around your island. While they can spawn nearly anywhere, I typically find them in mountainous areas with lots of elevation. They differ from Alpha Pals and other landmarks because they do not show up on your map; you'll have to spend some time exploring in order to find them. As such, I recommend marking any dungeons you come across on your map so that you can return to them later.
When you approach a dungeon, a timer will appear on your screen, along with the level of the boss Pal you'll encounter inside. The timer indicates how long that boss will remain inside the dungeon. Higher-level areas will have more difficult bosses, so be wary of entering dungeons that are well above you and your Pals' level.

What rewards do dungeons give you in Palworld?
Dungeons provide randomly generated loot upon their completion. The higher the boss Pal's level is, the better your rewards will be. The most common kinds of rewards you'll receive from dungeons include accessories like pendants and clothing, Technical Manuals, Schematics, and gemstones such as sapphires and rubies. You're also guaranteed to receive Ancient Civilization Parts as a drop from the boss Pal, along with Precious Pelts or Precious Plumes, depending on the boss's species.
In addition, many dungeons have treasure chests that offer additional random loot. While it can be tempting to head straight for the boss Pal, I recommend exploring the entire dungeon so that you don't miss any chests. This also gives you a better chance of encountering the rare Pals that spawn inside dungeons.

How to prepare for dungeons in Palworld
Aside from the boss Pal, Palworld dungeons are full of enemies, both human and Pal. The human NPCs will always turn hostile as soon as you enter their range, while some Pals won't attack unless provoked. The enemies that spawn inside dungeons are dependent upon the dungeon's location; for example, dungeons in Moonless Shore will have Free Pal Devouts, Beegardes, and Katresses. I strongly suggest repairing your weapons and stocking up on ammo so that you can handle these enemies alongside your Pals.
Due to their layout, Palworld dungeons are easy to get lost in. I recommend bringing a torch or a Fire-type Pal to help you see in the dark, and paying attention to which turns you decide to take. Depending on which rooms generate, you may also have to swim and climb to navigate.
When you reach the end of a dungeon, you'll find the boss Pal next to a large tree. Boss Pals may spawn alone or with a small group of weaker Pals. They can hit you from a distance and up close, so be ready to dodge any oncoming attacks. While it's great to have a type advantage against the boss Pal, you can't know its type ahead of time; if you don't have any Pals that are strong against it, I suggest sending out a Pal with a lot of HP and Defense to tank hits for you. This allows you to attack the boss from afar without putting yourself in danger.
Once the boss is defeated, you can enter the next room, which will have treasure chests full of your hard-earned loot. There will also be a crystal in the center that teleports you out of the dungeon. At this point, the dungeon will enter a cooldown period dependent upon the boss's level. Once the cooldown ends, you can challenge the dungeon again.
