Work Suitability, explained – Palworld

How working works for your Pals

In Palworld, manual labor for your Pals is a requirement to get anything done in a reasonable amount of time. Not all Pals have the Work Suitability for every type of job, however, so allow me to explain exactly how this system works.

All Work Suitability types in Palworld

Since Palword has many different types of jobs that need to be done to progress, the Pals you capture need to be accustomed to that type of job before they can perform them. As such, Work Suitability determines which jobs your Pals can do. There are 12 types of Work Suitability.

  • Kindling - Used for jobs where Fire is a necessity like cooking food and smelting ore.
  • Planting - Used for jobs where it is necessary to use a farm, such as growing berries.
  • Handiwork - Used for jobs that require an artisan's touch at a workbench, like crafting arrows.
  • Lumbering - Used for jobs that require logging to accomplish, such as gathering wood.
  • Medicine Production - Used for jobs that require medical knowledge, like creating stims.
  • Transporting - Used for jobs that need items moved to storage, or another location in your base.
  • Watering - Used for jobs that require Water to grow something, like berries.
  • Generating Electricity - Used for jobs where Electricity is required to keep something powered, like a generator.
  • Gathering - Used for jobs where something can be gathered from the land, also like berries.
  • Mining - Used for jobs where gathering stone or ore is a requirement.
  • Cooling - Used for jobs where Ice is needed to keep something cold, like a cooler.
  • Farming - Used for jobs where grazing is a necessity, like obtaining eggs.

Each of these 12 Work Suitability categories can be broken down into many different jobs between your Pals. Speaking of which, Pal comes with their own set of Work Suitability, which can be checked by looking at the details of your Pal in your base.

Not all Pals can do every job, but there are obvious ones better suited to specific types of Pals. For example, all Fire-type Pals will be suitable for the Kindling job. This is because Kindling involves heating something, which a Fire Pal will naturally be good at. The same can be said for Water Pals and Watering and Electric Pals for Generating Electricity.

Even if a Pal is suitable for a job, Pals have different levels of viability that you'll want to pick and choose from. For example, Foxparks only Level 1 in the Kindling job. However, Arsox is a Level 2 in Kindling, making him better suited for it. This translates into the same job being done faster by an Arsox. You can check the level of Pal's suitability in their details, as mentioned above.

There are tons of Pals out in the world of Palworld, so be sure to find the one most suitable for your needs.
