With Halloween right around the corner, paranormal activities have increased in Phasmophobia. This change comes in the form of the Blood Moon Event, which is the first community-wide challenge that you complete alongside every other player. But how can you contribute to this challenge? To help you with that, we've covered everything you need to know about the Blood Moon Event in this comprehensive guide.
Phasmophobia Blood Moon Challenge Location and Requirements
The Blood Moon Event is the Halloween-special event for 2024 in Phasmophobia. During this event, certain locations are affected by the Blood Moon weather, which makes the ghosts much stronger, and extremely tough to deal with. But with higher risks, you also get higher rewards, in the form of various ID Card themes, new trophies, and increased completion rewards.
This event can be tracked using the newly added Event Board in the warehouse. Since this is a community event, every time you complete the requirements on this challenge, you'll be contributing towards the completion of the event's stages. Be aware that this is a limited-time event, and lasts for about 15 more days., from October 28th till November 13th, 2024.
The Blood Moon event isn't available in every location. You can only contribute to this challenge when you're in one of these four locations:
- 42 Edgefield Road
- Grafton Farmhouse
- Point Hope
- 13 Willow Street
Currently, only these four locations have the Blood Moon weather activated. Once you complete this event, you'll get the option to activate this weather on every other map. Apart from that, here are the requirements to contribute to this event:
- Identify Ghosts Correctly
- Complete Optional Objectives
- Photograph Any Totems You Find
The first two goals require you to identify a ghost based on the evidence and complete some additional objectives like escaping a hunt or taking a picture of the ghost. The third goal is a unique challenge that you need to be on the lookout for. These Blood Totems can be tough to come across, and even harder to photograph.
Blood Totem Locations in Phasmophobia
The Blood Totems are vase-like objects with a miniature floating Blood Moon, that you can find across various spots in the event locations. While some of these Totems can be found right at the entrance, others will require a bit more searching.
When you encounter these Totems, be sure to click a picture to get Blood Points. You should click the picture from close proximity to get a three-star rating. If you click it from afar, you'll get lower stars which in turn give you lower points.
These totems spawn randomly, so every round they will spawn in different spots. On average, depending on whether you're playing solo or with a squad, the number of blood totems that can spawn varies. Based on my personal experience, here's how many totems you can expect:
Map | Size | Number of Totems |
---|---|---|
42 Edgefield Road | Small | 3-5 |
Grafton Farmhouse | Small | 3-5 |
Point Hope | Small | 4-6 |
13 Willow Street | Small | 3-6 |
The best way to find every Blood Totem in Phasmophobia is to look out for the red glow around them. Even if you don't have a torch, you can follow the intense red glows, especially around the corners of a room, behind doors, or on top of tables to locate these Totems.
Blood Moon Weather Effects
The locations affected by the Blood Moon weather, have a unique boost applied to them. If you check the challenge, you'll notice that it states the ghosts are much stronger and empowered in this weather. In reality, the ghosts are 15% faster in the Blood Moon weather, and your sanity stat drops significantly faster.
The best way to avoid getting caught by these faster ghosts is to position yourself around places where the ghost can chase you in a loop. These include large tables or even kitchen counters. Apart from that, be sure to carry Sanity Medication to counter the increased sanity drainage.
Blood Moon Event Rewards
While you might have a hard time completing Blood Moon stages because of their increased difficulty, these adventures are worth it because of the lucrative rewards:
- Blood Moon ID Card (Stage 1 Reward)
- Upgraded ID Card (Stage 2 Reward)
- Blood Moon Trophy (Stage 3 Reward)
- Blood Moon Weather Unlock (Stage 3 Reward)
- Increased Completion Reward (+10% Final Reward on Blood Moon locations)
Apart from the contract completion reward, all Stage rewards are community achievements, so you'll contribute alongside other Phasmophobia players towards a common goal to unlock these rewards rather than doing them solo.
How to claim Blood Moon event rewards
After you complete every stage of the Blood Moon Event, you won't be able to claim the rewards from the Event Board. Rather, you'll have to use the Blood Altar at the center of your Warehouse to get the rewards.
Upon completion of every stage, go to the Blood Altar and press E to claim the reward. As for the increased completion reward, it's automatically added to your final stage reward and doesn't require any manual interaction.
