Best moves for Wo Chien in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Sadly, it seems like Wo Chien is considered the worst of the ruin Pokémon. Given the godly stats of the other ones... That's probably true. That doesn't mean Wo Chien can't be valuable in its own right. This Pokémon can be a huge source of chip damage as well as a sponge for almost any Special Attack, so long as it isn't Bug Buzz.

Best build for Wo Chien in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

• Leech Seed
• Protect
• Giga Drain
• Ruination

Wo Chien isn't the type of wall that will sit for a match. Rather, it chips down the enemy with Ruination while healing up with Leech Seed and Protect. Ruination is a great tool against Pokémon like Garganacl or Dondozo, who have humongous HP pools.

Due to the lack of recovery move, Giga Drain can do well for Wo Chien by keeping it healthy. This slot can easily be replaced by Knock Off, though. Sometimes, it's more valuable to knock off some Leftovers of Heavy Duty Boots than it is to give Wo Chien a bit of health.

What are the best counters to Wo Chien?

Quite frankly, any sweeper with U-turn counters Wo Chien. Examples would be Dragapult, Meowscarada, and some variants of Roaring Moon. The reason for this is because U-turn threatens a KO on Wo Chien every time. Therefore, the opponent either stays in and dies or switches out, in which case the U-turner can switch into a favorable match-up.
