Best Nature for Rookidee, Corvisquire, & Corviknight in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Do these birds' Natures have you stumped?

Players have plenty of options in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet when it comes to finding a good group of Pokémon for their team. The game features quite a few monsters from previous entries in the franchise, some of which are Rookidee, Corvisquire, and Corviknight. These ferocious birds can be handy in battle, but even deadlier if players choose the right Nature. For players looking to keep Rookidee and its evolutions around for the long haul, here are some good options for their Natures.

Rookidee, Corviquire, and Corviknight are returning Pokémon to the series, like Houndoom, and are surprisingly tanky. Their best stats are their HP, Defense, and Special Defense. Because they have a good Attack stat and no naturally learned Special Attack moves, it would be best to pick a Nature that forgoes their Special Attack stat for higher Defense, Special Defense, or Attack.

  • Impish (+Defense, -Special Attack)
  • Careful (+Special Defense, -Special Attack)

Since Rookidee and its later evolved forms already have the start of a good tank build, some optimal Natures that would further improve their Defense and Special Defense are Impish and Careful respectively.

How to choose the best Nature in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

It is important to keep a few things in mind when choosing a Nature for any Pokémon. The first point of interest will be the Pokémon's base stats. A good Nature will most of the time improve its strongest base stat and lower its worst one. While this is typically the case, there are some exceptions to watch out for. After looking over these stats, review the monster's move pool to ensure that the chosen Nature makes sense.

In some cases, for example, the Pokémon's stats suggest that boosting their Attack would be best, but this would be pointless if they don't have any Physical Attack moves. In this instance, it would be a better idea to improve another stat such as its Special Attack.
