Can you evolve Basculin into Basculegion in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet? Answered

Prepare your Pokémon HOME app!

Basculin is a returning Pokémon that was introduced in the eighth generation of games. Part of what makes Basculin so interesting is the fact that it has three different types that players could catch: a red-striped form, a blue-striped form, and a white-striped form. Of these three forms, the white-striped form was introduced in the Hisui region and could evolve into Basculegion under a specific set of parameters. In fact, a white-striped Basculin can only evolve into Basculegion after losing at least 294 HP from recoil damage without fainting.

Considering this, while you can catch a Basculin in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, you cannot evolve it into a Basculegion. So, how exactly would you be able to get one in your copy of the game?

How can you get Basculegion in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet?

Basculegion can only be transferred into the game once it becomes compatible with Pokémon HOME in 2023. In order to obtain one in Pokémon HOME right now, you'll need to transfer one from your copy of Pokémon: Legends Arceus. Unfortunately, doing this doesn't allow you to add Basculegion to your Paldean Pokédex for the time being.

But, at least you know that when the time comes, you'll be prepared. So, you might want to go back into your copy of Pokémon: Legends Arceus and make sure that your Basculegion is the nature that you'd like since this cannot be changed out unless you acquire a different one!
