Best way to get Gimmighoul Coins in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

While there are a handful of ways to farm Gimmighoul Coins in Pokémon Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, the best way is to find and battle all the Gimmighoul chests scattered throughout Paldea. They can commonly be found in watchtowers and can be at very high levels when encountered. All locations where Gimmighoul spawns in chest form are locked and will eventually respawn after enough time has passed.

We recommend waiting until you have upgraded all of Koraidon or Miraidon ride moves. We also recommend having a high-level party, as some Gimmighouls you encounter can be level 50. But you can receive between 30 and 200, with low numbers being more common. However, there is an extremely slim chance you will receive 777 Gimmighoul Coins.

Outside of battling Gimmighoul in its chest form, you can find Gimmighoul Coins through other methods. As you explore, you can find Gimmighoul in its wandering farm, and interacting with this by pressing the A button will give you some Gimmighoul Coins; this number can vary between 1 and 200, but higher numbers are extremely rare, and you will likely receive around five. These spawn throughout Paldea but can commonly be found near signposts, railings, rocks, bridges, and Pokémon Centers.

Additionally, there is an NPC in Medali who will give you 20 Gimmighoul Coins. He will also carry any extra coins you collect if you already have 999 Gimmighoul Coins collected. He can be found at the west square in Medali.

How to evolve Gimmighoul in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Once you have collected 999 Gimmighoul Coins, add Gimmighoul to your party. Level it up through battling or a Rare Candy, and it will automatically evolve into Gholdengo in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. This will consume the 999 Gimmighoul Coins in your inventory.
