How to evolve Slowpoke into Slowking in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Slowly but surely, the king is here.

Slowking is the king of Water and Psychic-type Pokémon, and its evolution line appears in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. However, you may notice your Slowpoke normally evolves into Slowbro and not Slowking. This may leave you wondering how to evolve Slowpoke into Slowking in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

How to get Slowking in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

To evolve Slowpoke into Slowking in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, you must find a King's Rock. You must then give Slowpoke the King's Rock to hold and trade it. Slowpoke will only become Slowking by trade evolution; otherwise, it will evolve into Slowbro by leveling up to level 37. Slowpoke's evolution will trigger upon completion of the trade, and you will need to trade the Slowking back.

The King's Rock is a held item that gives your Pokémon an additional chance to catch your opponent's Pokémon to flinch when you hit it with an attack. But it is also the only way to get a Slowking. After defeating four gyms, you can get the King's Rock from the Delibird Presents store in Mesagoza.

We recommend trading with a friend, but you can use Reddit through the PokémonTrades subreddit. This is generally a safe way to trade Pokémon, but make sure you read the rules, guidelines, and suggestions before initiating a trade. Ensure that any communication is done in the subreddit and not through DM, but be aware you are trading with strangers at your own risk.
