How to get Sun Stones in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Gotta get that Lilligant!

Sun Stones can't be bought in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet and must be found in the open world. They are used to evolve a number of Pokémon and are vital in filling out the Pokédex. One is given to players for free when passing the Gym Test in Artazon, but this can't be repeated. These are the locations where players can find a Sun Stone in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.

Where to find Sun Stones in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

There are two locations in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet where Sun Stones will spawn, with one area having a guaranteed Sun Stone as a Pokéball item. In the West Province by Area One, Sun Stones can spawn by the river with one always being by a cliff and a tree. This can be accessed by facing the river and turning around to go through a small tunnel where the Sun Stone will be waiting. This is the only guaranteed location apart from simply passing the Gym Test in Artazon for the Grass Gym. Neither of these two drops will respawn, but the river can have some shiny objects on the floor that have a chance of being Sun Stones.

The other area players can find Sun Stones is the Asado Desert. The area is full of random items like Soft Sand, Pokémon materials, Balls, and Potions. Any of the shiny drops on the ground can be Sun Stones. They have a low spawn rate, but the Desert spawns a lot of items at the same time so it shouldn't take too long to eventually find one. The Sun Stone can evolve both Petilil and Sunkern and are necessary for filling out the Pokédex.
