Game Freak's most recent trailer for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet went more in-depth than any trailer that came before it. Pokémon fans saw everything from new evolutions to new mechanics to even some sandwich making. The Terastal form that Pokémon will be getting in the new game got more fleshed out.

Terastal Pokémon can be any type

Previous trailers have shown off the Terastal Pokémon, which looks like it will be the gimmick of Generation IV, the way Dynamax was for Generation VIII and Mega Evolution was for Generation VI. It has been confirmed that any Pokémon can have a Terra form of any of the 18 types. Trainers can also find Terastal Pokémon in the wild by looking for glowing Pokémon.

Trainers can craft TMs

Trainers will be able to craft their own TMs by collecting various items. These items will be dropped after defeating wild Pokémon in battle. It looks like TM Machines will be posted in the Pokémon Centers around the Paldea region.

Pokémon can auto-battle

In this new game, trainers can have Pokémon battles on their own. Using the "Let's Go" command, a trainer can automatically have a Pokémon battle. This could be useful for grinding up in areas if a trainer has a Pokémon with a particular type advantage (e.g., training up a Grass-type in an aquatic area of Water-type Pokémon).

Story follows three different paths

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will be an open-world game, but there are three story paths that trainers will be able to go down. One is the typical challenge of getting eight Gym badges and reaching the Pokémon League. The other two involve searching the world for Herba Mystica and an encounter with Team Starfall, which appears to be this region's evil team, like Team Rocket.

Trainers can now have picnics with their Pokémon

Similar to how camping works in Pokémon Sword and Shield, trainers can interact with their Pokémon during picnics. Pokémon can kick around a ball in this mode, and trainers can even feed their team sandwiches.

Girafarig gets new evolution

Girafarig, an older Pokémon from the Johto region, will get a new evolution in Generation IX: Farigiraf. It looks like its tail will reach to consume its head and be much taller than Girafarig. Both names are palindromes, as they spell the same backward as they normally do.
