Don't be in a rush to catch Pokémon.

One of the main goals of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is to catch them all and complete your Pokédex. To do this, you will need an abundance of Pokéballs and special Pokéballs. This includes Fast Balls, Quick Balls, Dusk Balls, and Timer Balls. This may leave you wondering how Timer Balls work in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

How do Timer Balls work in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Timer Balls in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet become more effective the longer a battle wears on. This is the opposite of Quick Balls, which are more effective on the first turn. This means you want to stall a wild Pokémon encounter to increase your odds of catching it with a Timer Ball. Here are the capture rates for Timer Balls in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

Timer Balls are most effective in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet on turn 10. After this, there is no benefit to using a Timer Ball as it will have reached its maximum effectiveness. You can continue to use Timer Balls past turn 10 at the same capture rate; it simply will not increase past this amount. Many players will use these to capture legendary Pokémon due to their difficulty.

How to get Timer Balls in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

You can purchase Timer Balls from Delibird Presents stores. However, you will first need to have defeated all eight gyms. Once you have accomplished this, you can purchase Timer Balls from Delibird Presents stores as often as you want.
