Top 5 features we’re excited to see in the Pokémon Teal Mask DLC

The Teal Mask DLC already promises to bring a bunch of nuances to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Outside of four new legendary Pokémon, there appear to be several new Pokémon to go along with a whole new story.

Which features are trainers excited to see with The Teal Mask in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet?

Given the many trailers that have come out for the DLC, there is certainly much to look forward to with The Teal Mask storyline. Here are five things we personally want to see in the DLC:

1. Four new Legendary Pokémon

The Teal Mask DLC will be adding four new legendary Pokémon to the Scarlet and Violet roster, but fans still don't know much about them. The typings of Munkidori, Okidoki, and Fezandipiti remain a mystery (although it's safe to say that Fezandipiti is likely part Flying-type). Ogerpon seems like a Grass-type, but the Teal Mask might give it an extra typing. It's also unclear if these Pokémon are getting signature moves, though they likely are.

2. New evolution lines

So far, there are two big new evolution lines that are known to appear in the DLC. There is Dipplin, who is a new evolution for Appelin. While Flapple is more offensive and Appletun is more defensive, it's unclear what niche Dipplin will have.

The other big new evolution is Poltchageist, which is likely an alternate evolution to Sinestea. Poltchageist will be Grass-type and Ghost-type, but many fans are wondering if it gets access to Shell Smash like Polteageist did. There could be other unknown evolutionary lines that pop up in the DLC as well. I'm still holding out hope for a new Flygon form!

3. Mysterious Tera form

In the most recent trailer for the Teal Mask, Ogerpon can be seen transforming into a new Tera form that has something to do with its mask. This is a pretty big nuance since all other Tera forms give the Pokémon a new typing. Is there a typing associated with the Teal Mask? Is it just a stat boost? Does it give dual typing? There are lots of unanswered questions about this new Tera form.

4. New rivals

A big strong point from the original Pokémon Scarlet and Violet game was the rivals. Nemona, Arven, and Penny all had interesting storylines with strong teams that made for some heated battles. If this trend continues, that means that Keiran should be a great character in the Teal Mask DLC. He appears to be unsure of himself as a character, but hopefully, he will have some strong Pokémon on his team.

5. Festival Time?

Pokémon has a rich history of paying homage to Japanese history. Not only were the first four Generations based on Japanese geography, but the Hisui region from Pokémon Legends: Arceus also took large inspiration from Japanese antiquity.

This trend is definitely continuing with the Teal Mask DLC since it looks to take place during a Japanese festival. As such, there are several minigames that are part of the DLC. Ogre Oustin, for example, has players race around popping Ogre balloons.
