More changes?

What changes did Niantic make to Pokémon GO Remote Raids?

Niantic has made a variety of changes to Pokémon GO following the April 6 switchover, which even went so far as to prompt nonsense rumors that the company was selling the Pokémon game amidst the controversy.

Pokémon GO Remote Raid participation limit

The most significant change made to Pokémon GO Remote Raids was the introduction of a cap on usage. Previously, players could enter as many Remote Raids from the comfort of their own homes as they wanted, but following the update, it is now capped at five per day.

Many fans would use the feature to Shiny hunt their favorite Legendaries, especially when certain 5-Star Raids went live first in other timezones. Now, it's a case of hoping to get lucky with the Pokémon you want within five attempts.

Pokémon GO Remote Raid Pass price adjustments

Before the change, Remote Raid Passes could be purchased from the in-game Shop for 100 PokéCoins for one and three for 300 PokéCoins. While players can still use PokéCoins to buy them, the cost has increased.

Now, one Remote Raid Pass costs 195 PokéCoins, while a three-pack is priced at 525. To put this into perspective, 100 PokéCoins cost $0.99, meaning the single Remote Raid Pass effectively increased by almost $1, and the three-pack went up by almost $2.

Pokémon GO Remote Raid Pass Research Breakthrough

Players can now earn Remote Raid Passes through Research Breakthroughs, which you get through completing Research Tasks like catching a certain number of Pokémon or making Great Throws. After finishing seven and earning a stamp for each one, you'll receive a Research Breakthrough and a reward.

You can still only hold three Remote Raid Passes at a time, which means if you receive one as a reward from a Research Breakthrough, you'll receive a Premium Battle Pass instead, which you can trade in for a standard Raid Pass or to unlock Premium Rewards in GO Battle League.
