Everything happening on Pokémon GO March Community Day 2023

Get ready to add some defensive Psychic-types!

It's not too often that a Pokémon GO Community Day will offer two Pokémon. For the March 2023 Community Day, however, both regular and Galarian Slowpoke will be available. On top of that, both Slowbro and Slowing are getting a new move, and there are plenty of other bonuses to exploit.

What's happening during Slowpoke Community Day in Pokemon GO?

For this Pokémon GO event, both Kantoian Slowpoke and Galarian Slowpoke will be appearing in the wild. While the Slowpoke from Kanto is Psychic-type and Water-type, Galarian Slowpoke replaces the Water typing with a Poison typing. Also, both of them have a chance to be shiny when encountered in the wild!

If trainers evolve either of the Slowpokes, they will get access to a special move: Surf. This move may seem weak at only 65 power, but it has a low energy cost. Trainers can use this move to bait shields and hopefully get an advantage in battle.

In addition to the Slowpokes, the March Community Day will also feature these bonuses:

  • Triple Catch XP.
  • Double Catch Candy.
  • double the chance for Trainers level 31+ to receive XL Candy from catching Pokémon.
  • Lure Modules will last for three hours if activated during the event.
  • Incense will last for three hours if activated during the event.
  • Trainers who take snapshots during the Community Day may get a surprise!
  • One additional Special Trade can be made.
  • Trades will require half Stardust.

One thing trainers will have to keep a look out for is Slowpoke's evolution method during the event. Normally, to evolve Galarian Slowpoke into Galarian Slowbro, trainers would need to catch 30 Poison-types with Galarian Slowpoke as their buddy. For this event, though, it will actually be 30 Psychic-types that trainers need to catch.
