How to delete save data in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

There's no shame in starting over.

Every user on the Nintendo Switch can only have one save data for Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. And whether it’s because you chose the wrong starter and the game autosaved or you’re just unhappy about your run so far, you’ve now decided to delete your save file and start over. Here’s how.

How to delete save data in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

The process is simple:

  1. Go to System Settings on your Nintendo Switch.
  2. Go to Data Management.
  3. Choose “Delete Save Data” and your Pokémon game (either Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl).
  4. Choose the user whose saved data you want to delete. The system will ask you to confirm one last time.

If you’re unsure about deleting your saved data but would still like to start a new game, you can always create a new user on your Nintendo Switch. You can do this by going to System Settings > Users > Add User. The new user doesn’t need a Nintendo account linked. Each user owns a separate save file in every game, including Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
