How to use Honey Trees in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

Honey is good for you and Pokémon!

There are multiple ways to catch Pokémon in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Many are encountered randomly in patches of grass, while surfing, and even given to the player by NPCs. But there is one way that players may not know about—honey trees.

To use honey trees in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl you will need to slather honey on them. This will attract wild Pokémon and after a few hours, players can return to the tree between six and twenty-four hours later to encounter it.

This mechanic is introduced after vising the Valley Windworks for the first time and defeating Team Galactic in the Floaroma Meadows. This is the only way to catch certain Pokémon. These Pokémon are:

  • Munchlax
  • Heracross
  • Aipom
  • Burmy
  • Cherubi
  • Combee
  • Wurmple

Munchlax and Heracross have very low encounter rates so be prepared to battle a lot of Wurmples before encountering one. But if you have the patience, both Pokémon are great editions to your team. Since the honey mechanic is time-based, it will likely take some time before you can catch one so it is a good idea to put honey on any honey tree you find.
