Pokemon GO Special Incense – Professor Willow

If you've logged into Pokemon anytime in June or July 2020 then you might have gotten a message from Professor Willow! Well, they let you know that you are having a special incense activated on you. Most players will search their inventory for this item, but you won't find it there! What's the deal with this? Well, we go over exactly what's going on with that in this guide.

This Special Incense mechanic was announced alongside the introduction of daily free boxes being added to the shop.

How do I get Special Incense?

Unfortunately, there's no real control over whether you get it or not. It is sent out randomly in what appears to be waves to players. You'll just get a pop-up after you login with Professor Willow giving you a message about it. Once you've gotten that message, that's all you need to do! If you haven't gotten it, you'll just need to wait and hope to get it in when you login the following day.

What is Special Incense?

Special Incense is not an item you will find in your inventory. It is automatically applied to your character, so you don't need to do anything. What Special Incense does is that it will attract a Pokemon to you, once a day, that will only appear for you! So, you're incentivized to login each day and check what Pokemon you will get when it spawns!

That's really all there is to it when it comes to Special Incense in Pokemon GO! If you don't have it yet, it looks like there has recently been another wave that has been sent out which has sent people scrambling to figure out what it is. If you didn't get it, unfortunately, you'll just need to wait and hope to receive it in the next update!
