Pokemon Sword and Shield: Removed Moves

We've got a look at the list of Pokemon moves that have been cut from Sword and Shield. This is a pretty big list and is pretty disappointing, especially if you are a fan of the competitive side of the games. This comes after all of the controversy about a bunch of Pokemon being cut from the game.

Not only have a lot of moves been cut, but if you bring in Pokemon from other games and they have some of the cut moves you will get the following message:

This move can’t be used. It’s recommended that this move is forgotten. Once forgotten, this move can’t be remembered.

It should be said that this list was datamined, so there's a possibility that it ends up being wrong. However, it appears that all of the leaks we have seen have been pretty much confirmed by in-game screenshots and streams of the game.

Some of the key moves that have been cut are Return, Pursuit, and Hidden Power. These were all moves that were used fairly often in competitive play and will shake things up quite a bit in the meta.

  1. Dang it. They removed ALL the funny, broken, and nostalgic moves to me. I remember when I was playing gen 2 (I think it was?) and Golem appeared and 1 shot my pokemon with a consecutive magnitude 8. SIX TIMES in a row. Screw gen 8.

  2. I loved the move nightmare… me and my gengar are sad to see it gone

  3. Also some of these moves are not straight up gone just not teachable via TM or TR, I’m pretty sure Hitmonchan can naturally learn sky uppercut

  4. ok so like half the moves are useless no one used them like at all not in competitive and not in casual ether and one third are Z moves witch yeah like what you want to gigamax and use a Zmove on the same turn its not like you could you know Maga forum and Zmove so why is this now a big deal i rather have a free item slot then just oh I get bout 80 free states or I get a super powered move once. Yeah getting a free heal for 1/16 you HP who needs that am I right. and the other 1/3 move were only moves for eevee and pikachu for the lets go games because you know that game needed to be easier then it already was it is sad to see some signature moves taken out or at lest iconic move but again they were never used. Its for the better long run then them having to update and wast time on things no one use or have then buffing moves that no one cares about.

    1. The only moves that matter are the sp.atk bug type ones, but yea. Everything else is redundant, hell even better for the game to be out.

    2. Really the only move I was upset to see go was skydrop I use that a lot braviary.
And one move I was glad to see get axed was pursuit.
