The Pokémon Go April Fools' 2-Oh?-22 event added a Special Research mission that has a task confusing some trainers. One of the tasks is to catch three Transform Pokémon, but what are the Transform Pokémon in Pokémon Go?
The Transform Pokémon is Ditto, the pink blob Gen I Pokémon that can transform and take the shape of other Pokémon. Ditto encounters are pretty rare, but the encounter rate was raised during April Fools' Day. Many trainers still have Research missions to complete from the event and finding a Ditto, let alone three, can be difficult.
Not only are Dittos rare to encounter, but you will not be able to tell if it is even a Ditto before you catch it. Dittos will appear as other Pokémon until you complete the catch, so it can be a challenge going through encounters to find one. Dittos can appear as any Pokémon, but after the April Fools' event, Dittos appear as these Pokémon more often:
- Dwebble
- Ekans
- Finneon
- Gastly
- Lillipup
- Natu
- Surskit
- Swirlix
Ditto is a normal-type Pokémon that has a unique Transform fast attack. Transform will copy the opponent's moves, stats, and type, however, Ditto's low HP makes it less viable in battle.
If you still have the Special Research task that requires you to catch three Transform Pokémon, don't be discouraged, there are still Ditto out there and the mission does not expire.
