The world yearns for a great unlikely father-daughter duo, the likes of Joel and Ellie or the Mandalorian and Grogu. PRAGMATA absolutely delivers on this premise, weaving a story of Hugh and Diana as they try to escape the lunar station overrun by rogue AI. It's honestly no wonder that this game hit the 2 Million copies sold mark in just 16 days. According to Capcom, their efforts of marketing the game with the early demo have also increased sales, and from our own estimates, you can expect even higher sale numbers due to word of mouth (I'm personally responsible for three friends buying the game).
PRAGMATA fulfills its promise of a sci-fi action-adventure game perfectly, but at the core of it all is the relationship between Hugh and Diana. While not as grumpy as Joel (one of my favorite characters of all time), Hugh still doesn't want kids. However, the ease with which he takes Diana under his wing and onto his back instantly brings emotion, and that's at the literal start of the game!
It only gets better from there. Once you get to that Shelter and have regular interactions with Diana, you'll see why I spent most of my playthrough crying from how adorable she is and how sweet every conversation between the two of them are. No spoilers, but definitely stock up on tissues if you plan on playing it.
We can't say we're surprised by the beautiful story and world design of PRAGMATA, nor the success the game has achieved up until now. Capcom just knows how to make a great game. Both the Devil May Cry and the Resident Evil franchise have a special place in my heart, and PRAGMATA has settled in it as well. Now, whether this game will turn into another beloved franchise, it's too early to tell. We can certainly hope to get more in the franchise, but for now, we can have the joy of high-fiving Diana and getting drawings from her in celebration!
PRAGMATA is currently available on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. For more gaming news, make sure to check out our entire Pro Game Guides News Section!
